Hi guys, I’m off for camping this coming weekend, from sat-sunday … / We still havent decide which one to go at this stage … Anyone can give some tips and hints for great locations not to be missed for landscape photo … will be great :) Also, anybody can give a hint for star trail shots by digital, with a minimum amount of noise? Probably we can get rid of them by noise reduction software, but I dont have that … and wouldnt it reduce the sharpness and IQ of it? / Otherwise … I’ll bring my film camera … but damn … it will be quite heavy then … x( Thanks all … Regards, / Sidqie

Larry Smith sat on the edge of his bed with his 2 best friends sitting on the floor.”Man,Larry i can`t wait for christmas.I think my mom and dad is getting me that XBOX 360 i`ve been bragging about all week.” One of the boys said to Larry. “Yeah, i think my moms gonna get me that Dirt Bike and Four Wheller i`ve been asking for.” Another boy said. ” What happened to you guys holiday spirit.Christmas is suppose to be about Santa Clause and the egg nog that you drink at parties.” Larry told them.”Come on Larry you know we stopped believing in santa clause a long time ago.” Travis said. “Yeah Larry you need to listen to Travis. He may not always be right but i agree with him on this one. All i look forward to on Christmas is the presents and spending time with my mom.It`s the only time of the year she can spends all day with me instead of just 10 lowsy minutes” Andy said.” You guys are probably right. Then they heard a scream. Over the years I have spent an inordinate amount of time and money in the effort to increase my hiking comfort and enjoyment by carrying a lighter pack. Recently I went to the extreme of buying folding titanium cutlery to save a few more grams… I’m sure you get the idea. Photography just totally destroys all these efforts however. Initially I was horrified by the thought of lugging an SLR camera and tripod. Now I carry four lenses, extension tubes, filters etc, etc. and have just upgraded from the 380gm/ 73×70mm long EF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 USM to a 950gm 83×124mm EF24-70mm f/2.8L USM (my seconfd L lens). At almost twice the weight and size I’ve thought long and hard about investing in this lens but figure once I get the 5D mkII I’ll need every bit of quality I can get. Speaking of the 5D mkII my local store indicates that Canon Australia has finally set the recommended retail price (body only) at $4299, but annoyingly not the wholesale price so the actual purchase amount is still unknown although I imagine it will be around $4000. Going well it will be available late October otherwise late November, can’t wait. Off hiking tomorrow for what I anticipate might be one of the toughest and potentially most dangerous walks I’ve done, through some trackless and cliff edged coastline down at the Prom. Tidal River/ South Point/ SW Pt/ Sea Eagle Bay, Mt Norgate / Oberon Bay/ Tidal River for those familiar with the Prom and yes I got an off track permit. One more sleep…. My last big Velvia trip… RIP film. Trav

I must admit that I have no idea why people gravitate to some images more than others although it’s very nice when it happens. Therefore the popularity of my Wave Rock image for me is somewhat of a mystery. Obviously I’m proud of taking a nice shot but personally I can’t understand why this one is two to ten times more popular than other pics I’m equally proud of. This one is currently the 159th most popular on the whole of the bub and has just passed it’s 3000th viewing last night, with 221 comments and 127 favouritings. As grateful as I am to everyone for all there support I must admit that considering it’s popularity I’ve found the lack of accompanying sales a little perplexing. Yesterday however the dam finally broke with my first card sale of wave rock to a mystery buyer, so thankyou so much to whoever you are, it appreciated more than you know. On the other side of the coin my most popular shot off the bub in terms of card sales (I produce my own range) has been Grasstree and South-east Point . On the bub despite being posted around the same time as Wave Rock this one has only been favourited once and has had 172 views and 6 comments. Now don’t get me wrong I’m not complaining I’m simply fascinated by the nature of popularity and how something can be so popular in one place but go almost unnoticed in another and visa versa. The other interesting phenomena is pics that get heaps of favouritings but hardly any views. Popularity??? Thanks as always for reading and commenting on my inane ramblings. Cheers Trav

So I received a mass text message from a classmate of mine regarding senior prom. It was said to be held at some grand ass ballroom at some Quality Hotel in the country (is there such a hotel by that name? Quality Hotel?) I swear I laughed my ass off upon reading that : Quality Hotel. I mean, aren’t hotels supposed to be of a quality standard? Unless it’s a motel. God, these little things cracked me up instantly. Now, I’m here staring at the laptop screen; not knowing whether to reply to my classmate’s mass message or not. Well, if I don’t, I’ll appear rude as it was stated in the message, “Replying to this message is compulsary”. Right. Being the person that I am, I’m going to ignore this message and give myself some time to think about this matter; maybe for a few days or maybe a week. I just started my job and I’m seriously broke. Why would I want to attend some extravaganza event when deep down I’m not happy with the state that I’m in. It’s just stupid. I’m broke and I have to make sure that I’ve enough money to pay back my debt. It’s not easy being a teenager especially when you get no allowance. I’m forced to grow up at such a young age – which I think would benefit me, one day. Meanwhile, I come up with a few plots for my writing project. Be prepared for the twist and turn of the story. It’s been quite a while since I sketch or do something arty-farty. Going to get my hands dirty after I’m done with ‘Day 3 of Natalia’s life’. After that, more of a reading session time for me. / P.s: I bought 10 books for 50 dollars. I’m so lucky. I could fill my empty days just by losing myself in another realm – which is by reading the 10 books. P.p.s: I miss shopping for apparels at boutiques such as: topshop, warehouse, f21,etc. / Aww… especially during the prom fever season. Shucks!:(
