  • This giant cotton silk tree has tried to reclaim a portion of the ruins of the Ta Prohm Temple in Cambodia. This is quite a well known tourist site, and is especially popular after a portion of the Tomb Raider movie was shot here. I hope you enjoy the effect I have created in the image. PS I also have a portrait version of this image available as well if anyone is considering making a purchase. I prefer this crop, but please let me know if you want to look and I can upload it for you. Cheers / Steve

  • Temple nun or guardian, Ta Prohm temple, Angkor complex, Cambodia

  • Camera : Sony A-100 / Date and time taken : 5 July 2007. 1:42:09 PM (local) / Focal length :18mm / F-Number : F/8 / ISO : 100 / Exposure Time : 1/60 seconds / Location: Ta Prohm, Cambodia / Post: Just slightly adjusted contrast and color. Taken in Siem Reap in Cambodia this place is magical. They filmed at this location in the Tomb Raider movie I believe. Either way it’s a fantastic place and quite interesting to see nature taking over the temple so thoroughly. With this shot I was just trying to capture how the tree’s roots have spread out so widely on the temple roof.

  • ta prohm – a temple complex in Cambodia. Huge trees interwine with the derelict ruins. Amazing.

  • Ta Prohm, Siem Reap, Cambodia. Taken on a recent trip through Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand.

  • Taken at Ta Prohm, Siem Reap, Cambodia.

  • The ancient buddhist temple of Ta Prohm, east of Angkor Thom, Cambodia. This amazing structure was built in the late 12th and early 13th centuries in the Bayon style. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Ta Prohm has been left in much the same condition in which it was found: the photogenic and atmospheric combination of trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surroundings have made it one of Angkor’s most popular temples with visitors (thanks Wikipedia). This temple was used as a location for filming of the movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. The tree in this shot is, I believe, a silk-cotton tree (Ceiba Pentandra). Please correct me if I’m wrong! That’s me centre-field. I set up the shot then got my wife, Carol, to click the shutter.

  • Ta Prohm temple Siem Reap Cambodia.

  • Featured in Nature’s Reclamation in January 2009 and in Dilapidated Buildings in May 2009. Top 10 in Abandoned Dark Creepy in May 2009. An overgrown section of Ta Prohm temple at Angkor Wat, Cambodia photographed in November 2008. Please also see: /

  • A monk peeks out of a doorway at Ta Prohm, Angkor, Cambodia. Tomb Raider was shot here actually.

  • A Buddhist Monk taking in the view at the Ta Prohm Temple – Siem Reap, Cambodia. When re-discovered early in the last century, this temple had been completely reclaimed by the jungle.

  • Photo taken February 09. This temple and the trees date back to 12th and 13th Century with restoration of the site only beginning in the 20th Century.

  • Ta Prohm, Cambodia An Amazing place within the Angkor Watt historical site that is so captivating for the battle that takes place within, ancient structure takes on untamable natural landscape The place is a quiet epic story unfolding discretley before you. The majesty, uniqueness, and sadness are all around

  • Ta Prohm is the modern name of a temple at Angkor ,Cambodia. It was built in the Bayon style largely in the late 12th and early 13th centuries. It is located approximately one kilometre east of Angkor Thom on the southern edge of the East Baray near Tonle Bati. Unlike most of the Angkorian temples, Ta Prohm has been left in much the same condition in which it was found. The photogenic and atmospheric combination of trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surroundings provided the perfect site for the film “Tom Raiders”. In fact this scene (in my photo) featured in the film and I was told that the main actress emerged from the opening to left of the roots. I thought the sunlight reflecting down the roots added to the atmosphere of nature reclaiming its own.

  • Turn left or turn right it does not matter. The harder you look for intactness at Ta Prohm the more chaos and structural havoc there is. Its a wonderful scene to an anarchist’s eye!

  • A monk decides to pose for the small band of western infiltrators snapping away at everything in sight at Ta Prohm (me included). It is an exquisite place where nature has decided to reclaim what is rightfully hers. Maybe he understands the significance of that relationship more than me..?

  • Those strangler figs get everywhere

  • Another shot op Ankor Wat (Cambodia). / Here you see a part of Ta Prohm, the so called Jungle Wat (wat = temple). / Here it was very very difficult to take a picture without tourists!
