An exclamation mark or exclamation point is a punctuation mark: ! It is usually used after an interjection or exclamation to indicate strong feelings or high volume, and generally marks the end of a sentence. A sentence ending in an exclamation mark is either an actual exclamation (“Wow!”, “Boo!”), a command (“Stop!”), or is intended to be astonishing in some way (“They were the footprints of a gigantic hound!”). In typesetting or printing the exclamation mark is called a screamer or bang. “Bang” is also common in computer programming slang. Less common names in publishing include “gasper” and “startler”. I haven’t held the camera much for a couple of months now and on reading John Robb’s journal The 100 Step Program I decided to pick up my still new DSLR (Nikon D90) and practice using my little lens (Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.8D). Okay, I didn’t exactly walk 100 steps to take the photo, as this little cat lazes on our lounge entertainment unit, but the concept got me inspired enough to take some shots! ;-) — / Other images taken as part of my journey on the The 100 Step Program / click on images to view / —

Okay, I didn’t exactly walk 100 steps to take the photo, as this marina (Tipperary Waters Marina)is my backyard; well, at the bottom of my backyard; but the concept got me inspired enough to take some shots! ;-) I took this shot at about 1.30am, Sunday 29 Mar 09, while waiting for our house to regain electricity supply…I didn’t use the flash, just used the internal light metering that was to the left of shot, then rotating the top of the tripod and clicked … — / Other images taken as part of my journey on the The 100 Step Program / click on images to view / — / N.B. Recovered negative from my Canon A1 Program I was finally able to scan recently. Unedited. I believe the film was Fujifilm B/W 400, but I can’t be sure. / There is something magical about film and the uniqueness and quality that it produces. /
..right now there is a dark need for visual creation dominating the centre. Technical tasks like programming are pushed aside, but continue to fight for my attention. Left and right brain do not always play nicely together. / I think that for pure visual appreciation this piece is probably a bit too busy. But for anything remotely representing this meat storm I call a brain I think maybe it’s not busy enough.. / Please feel free to let me know what you think.
