  • A bit of a play on words as Arianne Rothschild irons out the last bugs in her latest creation. I had this scene kicking around in my head for some time, and sitting in D|S for almost as long. I kept getting distracted by other things and working on other images or ideas but finally Arianne has worked out the last of the bugs.

  • In a few minutes the Sun will come up in Titusville, Florida and from this park on the waterfront, dedicated to America’s Astronauts, the Space Shuttle’s special housing building will become visible in the foreground to the left of this capture. / A near perfect cold winter morning in Florida.

  • Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Short-billed Black Cockatoo (Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo) Fitzgerald River National Park, Western Australia. ========================================================= / “Short-billed Black Cockatoo” is donated to the Wildlife_Appeal_Group for the wildlife victims of the Victorian Bushfires. All of the proceeds will go to WRAP (Wildlife Rescue And Protection Incorporated) ========================================================= / This large black cockatoo has white tail panels, white cheek patches and a short bill. It lives only in southwest Australia where large-scale clearing for farming has fragmented much of its habitat, particularly mature eucalypts such as salmon gum and wandoo that have suitable hollows for nesting. / Carnaby’s Black-Cockatoos feed on the seeds of a variety of native and introduced plant species and on insect larvae. Endangered: Birds Australia (WA) is leading a recovery program that assists rural communities in the management of breeding populations of Carnaby’s Black-Cockatoo and implementing suitable recovery actions. These recovery actions include protection of existing breeding and feeding sites, revegetation, the development of corridors between breeding and feeding sites, repair of old and damaged hollows and control of competitor species, such as feral bees. • FIRST THING: IMPORTANT!!! The young man who created this program in Panama needs more money to continue to develop Incendia for us to use. We use it now as a free beta download and that has gotten this incredible program up and running well. But it needs refinement to prevent it from crashing and having other minor problems. That requires money or the creator has to work elsewhere and time to spend developing is lost. I for one believe that my using this free program to try to make money for myself obligates me to at least make a contribution towards using it for free up until now (and maybe very inexpensive in the future). Not only that, I’m asking and hoping to see products directly from using this program tho never asked for a dime for its commercial use. Please visit the Incendia site and make a donation. You’ll be a free upgrade for your efforts and the developer of this awesome little program will be able to keep working out the kinks before making it public in a final stage. Time to do what you can if you love Incendia or fractals in general. Thanks! I gave up on the rendering of this amazing fractal, knowing I could do the final bit of cleaning up with PhotoShop Elements 3. One day I’ll get a dedicated machine that can just do the job for however long it takes and I won’t keep peeking at it like a cake in the oven. LOL! This one came out almost exactly as I wanted it to but it still had the red halo from incomplete rendering so I just used the BACKGROUND ERASER and nuked everything that wasn’t black already. PS did such a fantastic job of it that it took less than 60 seconds to get it perfect and I’ve never used the tool before. Of course, I never read the 300 page 3rd party instruction book either so nothing new there. :-D This creation is about 95% Incendia working on its own. I changed the colours almost randomly, just aiming for bright contrasting ones and I tweaked the shape about 2%. It’s name simply “Incendia” exactly for that reason: this fractal was “right out of the box” and a 3D example of the sheer glory of this unfinished program. I’m suggesting you go ahead and get itnow, for free, even if you don’t install it. I think this program is so good it will cost a lot when it is finished. I’m sure it’s worth it even as it is now. If this fractal doesn’t ‘sell you’, the upcoming ones just might. I’m now planning to do some quick ones straight out of the programming that’s already there: basically nothing but the raw program’s presets. There’s no learning curve to do this and, of course, there’s precious little originality. But Incendia starts out more original than anything else I’ve seen. I think its presets are worth showing off! Graciously featured in the group A Fractal Energy Passion with my thanks! :-D

  • FRACTAL SAFETY NET / Best viewed large. / / / / FRACTAL SAFETY NET was FEATURED on / RED BUBBLE’S HOMEPAGE / on November 2, 2009. / / Fractal “Safety Net” was created out of Chaos with the Quaternion Julia Set, with use of Incendia software, based on five conditions. / / / With special effects rendered in skylight, I then proceeded to apply a little ambience, then I closed the program out and re-opened the image a second time in Photoshop. / / Lighting, luminosity, and colors were now added, along with embossing. After a few more adjustments with brightness and contrast, Fractal “Safety Net” was now complete. I do hope you like it!! / / /

  • The lion (Panthera leo) is a member of the family Felidae and one of four big cats in the genus Panthera. With some males exceeding 250 kg (550 lb) in weight, it is the second-largest living cat after the tiger. Wild lions currently exist in Sub-Saharan Africa and in Asia with a critically endangered remnant population in northwest India, having disappeared from North Africa, the Middle East, and Western Asia in historic times. Until the late Pleistocene (about 10,000 years ago), the lion was the most widespread large land mammal beside humans. They were found in most of Africa, much of Eurasia from western Europe to India and, in the Americas, from the Yukon to Peru. Should they survive the rigors of cubhood, lionesses in secure habitat, such as national parks, frequently reach an age of 12–14 years whereas male lions seldom live for longer than 8 years. However, there are records of lionesses living for up to 20 years in the wild. In captivity both male and female lions can live for over 20 years. They typically inhabit savanna and grassland, although they may take to bush and forest. Lions are unusually social compared to other cats. A pride of lions consists of related females and offspring and a small number of adult males. Groups of female lions typically hunt together, preying mostly on large ungulates. The lion is an apex and keystone predator, although they will resort to scavenging if the opportunity arises. While lions, in general, do not selectively hunt humans, some have been known to become man-eaters and seek human prey. The lion is a vulnerable species, having seen a possibly irreversible population decline of 30 to 50 percent over the past two decades in its African range; populations are untenable outside designated reserves and national parks. Although the cause of the decline is not well understood, habitat loss and conflicts with humans are currently the greatest causes of concern. Lions have been kept in menageries since Roman times and have been a key species sought after and exhibited in zoos the world over since the late eighteenth century. Zoos are cooperating worldwide in breeding programs for the endangered Asiatic subspecies. The male lion is highly distinctive and is easily recognized by its mane. The lion, particularly the face of the male, is one of the most widely recognized animal symbols in human culture.

  • I photographed Antonio in 1977. I was working on a story pertaining to abominable housing of illegal alien migrant farm workers in Homestead, Florida. Basically they were slave labor, housed in concentration camp environments. Enjoy your next tomato! Nikon FTn, 50mm f.14, TriX film.

  • This is me hiding my face behind my Canon AE-1 Program. I bought it in 1985, my 1st SLR Camera. It one tough camera, it’s been dropped a few time and still works fine. In 2002 I took it for the first time to a repair shop to have it checked out and cleaned. The only part that needed to be changed was a weak spring in the shutter system. I don’t use it much now that I have my DSLR, but I’ll never part with it, It my pet, it’s mine until I die. / Photo shot on self timer with my Canon Rebel XT(DSLR). / I changed the background, it was originally my ugly basement ceiling.

  • This is a full synthetic picture. It was programmed in several stages: first with PostScript to generate HUGE letters, afterwards with a small program in C++ for postprocessing. The picture has a resolution of 5000 * 5000 pixels, so it can be printed in a real big size.

  • A ‘incendia’ generated image….

  • Another photo of me hiding behind my Canon AE-1 Program. Taken with Canon Rebel XT on self timer. I decided the other day to load a film in this old camera which hadn’t used for over 2 years. I having to get use to how work it again. / #1. I forget that I have to hand focus it (No auto-focus). / #2. Right after I take a shot with it I find myself looking at the bare back of it to see how photo turned out. / #3. I go to take the next shot and wonder why it the shutter won’t release, then I remember that it doen’t have auto film advance, I have to manually advance the film.
