Hey all, / Below are a list of easy keyboard commands for Photoshop. I’m using a regular PC (Windows) but if you use a mac, all of the controls will be different…and because I don’t have a Mac within reach, I can’t get the commands for that. Sorry Mac users! Control + N = Opening a New Canvas / Control + O = Opening a new project from a different file (such as a photo) / Control + Z = Undo very last action; nothing past that. / Control + Alt + Z = Undo past actions; infinite. / Control + Shift + Z = Redo an action (that is, if you have already undone an action.) / Control + Shift + F = Fade… (This is a VERY useful tool that I just discovered about 2 minutes ago…For example, you draw something a little too light…do this command then you can make the brush stroke’s opacity darker! Again, VERY useful!) / Control + X = Cut / Control + C = Copy / Control + V = Paste / Control + Shift + V = Paste Into (Don’t know exactly what this does for sure yet but, apparently it’s useful?) / Control + I = Invert (makes a negative [or positive] of the image selected) / Control + A = Selects the whole canvas / Control + Shift + D = Reselects the part that was once selected, then deselected. / Control + D = Deselects the canvas / Control + – = Zoom Out / Control + + = Zoom In And there’s plenty more but these are the basic necessary keyboard commands for Photoshop. -Brittany

My friens, you’re telling me how much you like these pictures-in-pictures, like this one of Molly. These make wonderful pictures to hang in a big room, where they can be seen from up close as a crazy bunch of apparently random little pictures, or from a distance, as a recognizable person, place or thing. And they sell fairly well. I want you all to have to chance to make your own, so here’s where you can get the program for it: MontagePlus. NOTE If you have VISTA, you’ll end up paying something like 40 USD instead of the 9 USD they have it advertized for. There are more great modern art programs here, and other applications as well, so if you’re interested, do a little browsing around in there. My philosophy: Having fun is more fun when you share your fun! Dayonda

  • Hack: RedBubble art list exporter for Microsoft Windows
    by Dave Pearson

Ever since I wrote getrbart I’ve been toyi…

Ever since I wrote getrbart I’ve been toying with the idea of writing a variation on that theme that might be useful to people who aren’t in the habit of getting “down and dirty” on their Windows machines, people who prefer not to install software they don’t know about and who don’t fancy running command line scripts. Last week I finally cracked and started work on something: This is a very early release of the software, it doesn’t do a whole lot of stuff. Things it does do: Lets you download a list of all your public art on RedBubble. Lets you save the list and load it again later. Lets you download it again (dur!) Lets you export the list as a comma-separated values file. Lets you export the list as a tab-separated values file. Lets you export the list as a MediaRSS file. Lets you export the list as a set of HTML files, which might be useful for including in your own website (if you have one). Please note that this is a very early release of the tool. I’m making it available to people who are feeling adventurous (or foolish, depending on how you want to look at it) and who won’t mind reporting problems or giving suggestions. I can’t promise that it’ll do everything you want, but I can promise that it’ll be free to download, free to use and will always be free to use. If you fancy having a play head over here and have a read and, if you like what you see, download, install and have a play. PS: Yes, I know the application icon sucks in a big way. I’m a developer, not a designer. :P Version Details: v1.6.0.0 — Released 2008-09-21 / v1.5.0.0 — Released 2008-05-21 / v1.4.0.0 — Released 2008-05-16 / v1.3.0.0 — Released 2008-05-16 / v1.2.0.0 — Released 2008-05-15 / v1.1.0.0 — Released 2008-05-14

I was playing around with binary for another idea I have I thought this would be the perfect word to be written in that format. Of course, I had to use system font.

  • What's your RedBubble Year?

Note that I’ve also posted about this on the forums A little earlier today I noticed that the total number of pages of art on RedBubble was about to hit the 6,000 mark. And then I got to thinking that most people probably look at the first 10 or so pages and perhaps the last couple of pages (just to see what’s right at the “bottom” at any given moment). And then I got to thinking some more: somewhere around the middle there’s probably lots of stuff that most people don’t notice. So, how about picking a random page and bookmarking it (the content will change over time anyway). So how to pick one at “random”? Pick a year, perhaps? So, long story short, the pick a year and find art tool page thing Yeah, I know, it’s stupid… So, what’s your RedBubble year? Did you find anything fun? Edit: As of December 2007 this no longer works due to the fact that the “most popular ever” view is now restricted to just 30 pages. :-(

  • Specifically Software Listing - *UPDATED*
    by Gracey

Specifically Software I’ve done a few updates to this pr…

Specifically Software I’ve done a few updates to this previous journal that lists some new software (well, not necessarily new software, just new to the list). At the very bottom of the page is a listing for a site that offers one “licensed software” for free every day – be sure to look for it, and mark the site to your faves. Then go everyday and check it. Under Fractal Generating programs is “Fyre” – not really a fractal program, but pretty darn close; it generates sine-like random images. It’s pretty cool. Under Graphics is one called “Ivy Generator” – it’s not really a graphics program either, but what it does is one thing – it generates random ivy that looks fairly realistic. Pretty good for those who do image collage work. There’s some useful additions under Utilities for those who aren’t that tech savvy, and a couple for those who are. There’s a section for Office software – the well known open office is listed, as well as a not so well known program called Floppy Office – the whole set (a dozen apps) will run from a floppy disc, a thumb drive or your computer. Small download (the zip file is 1.9mb!) makes it useful for dial-up users – it also has a very easy ftp client included. A new section for computer security programs – includes antivirus, antimalware, anti-everything :D Almost all of the listings are programs I use & trust, or have used in the past. (doesn’t include firewalls but there’s a link to a page that does) There’s also two links for removal of “VIRUS ALERT” and “ANTIVIRUS XP 2009 (or 2009) – there’s been a lot of that going around lately. A couple of site links in this security section as well that will be most helpful to those who need information on computer clean up and safety. SPECIFICALLY SOFTWARE

  • An experiment with the idea of a self-documenting t-shirt. The design contains a simple plot of a Mandelbrot Set which is overlaid with the ruby code that was used to produce it. The code itself emits a monochrome PBM file which I then converted into a PNG and then used Photoshop Elements to merge it with the code that produced it. Ideally, the ultimate version of the t-shirt would be the one that contained the code that produces a finished PNG that can simply be uploaded to RedBubble with no manual fiddling. All in good time…

  • This is my little salute to my favorite programming language, expressed as a symbol one of the things I love about Ruby’s syntax.

  • A bit of a play on words as Arianne Rothschild irons out the last bugs in her latest creation. I had this scene kicking around in my head for some time, and sitting in D|S for almost as long. I kept getting distracted by other things and working on other images or ideas but finally Arianne has worked out the last of the bugs.

My IRL alter ego is working on a project that extends Museum of Dust into the community software sector. She has real money to pay a real PHP head to customise and build extension modules for a white-label social software PHP core. Someone who can also write kickarse CSSs would be super ideal… otherwise also seeking a web designer who can do the same. Very happy to negotiate timeframes, etc. If you can recommend anyone… or are the person above… PLEASE bubblemail me.

Hey everybody / I want to appologize for not being around lately, haven’t been commenting or posting or replying etc. Life got crazy for a bit, total chaos and my laptop blew…...so I’m working on getting back while also trying to get my home life under control and learn a couple new programs. It’s been a wild ride but I’m hoping to get back in here full throttle very shortly. / Thank you to all of you who have continued to come in and say hello on my photos even though I’ve not returned the favor lately. You are all such amazing beautiful people. group hug I also wanted to let you know that I managed a few moments earlier today to go through my portfolio and get everything marked for sale as canvas and cards as well as the others that were already marked. So maybe with the new cards and the fact that they are so inexpensive…..who knows!! Maybe I’ll just make my first sale here on RedBubble. whoo hoo won’t that be amazing!!! :) Again, thank you for your patience and friendships. / Rain
