Ok, so here’s the thing. I’ve been competing at a site called Digital Image Cafe for about 15 months now, and in the course of that time I’ve won a few prizes. I’ve got two boxes here with PC versions of Corel Paint Shop Pro PHOTO XI ....and can’t actually spare the space or ram on my computer to run it. Plus, my husband has this bad habit of throwing things out that are sitting around gathering dust….lucky I’m still here, actually! I’d hate for them to be wasted. Here’s what I propose: If anyone here wants to have one of these, I’ll give them both away…..post a photo here to prove how much you need it…..I’ll ask some of my friends to help me judge. The photos have to be loaded into Redbubble and for sale. To link it to here, go to the photo you want to share, right click on it, then go to properties. Drag your mouse over the url where it says Location, and make sure you get it all, including the ending extension, in most cases jpg, then add an exclamation mark at the start and the end ! / Paste that into the comment, and you should see your photo. Competition will end on Feb 29, 7pm Eastern STANDARD time – AUS, (not daylight saving time) and I’ll post them anywhere in the world, surface mail….no correspondence will be entered into, so don’t bmail me about this, put all your questions and photos here, please. I’m looking for creativity, but you also need to show that you don’t have a decent editing program….which is why you need this one. Feel free to tell all your friends

Sydney, Long Reef is a protected marine reserve with rock shelves that extend out about 200m into the sea. We were lucky to have a beautiful cloud and still water reflecting of it. Shot with Cokin Z-Pro Tobacco Filter to give it a mood. The normal image tho looks good are just to wash out and unattractive, so i strap a filter on. Gum Boots is essential for early Sydney Sea Side shoot – unless you want wan mild frostbite at the end of the morning…eiei. Mind you i usually go shoe less in Summer…ahhaha…feel the water. 0.04 sec (1/25) | f/6.3 | 10 mm | ISO: 100 | Bias: 1 +EV | Shade WB / www.hangingpixels.com

Alot of people recently have been asking for some advice on HDR imaging and Photomatix so i thought i would let you all know what i know, which is the basic operation of the Photomatix program. / Ok first things first you need three exposures of the same shot, / one under exposed, one standard exposure and the other over exposed. / The best way to do this if you have an SLR is to use the AEB ( Auto Exposure Bracketing) and set it to 2+ and use the continuous drive as you will get the three shots with one press i would also use a tripod unless you have very steady hands however with the AEB in continuous drive they are pretty snappy, if you have a point and shoot i have no idea all i can suggest is lighting. / Now when you have the exposures open photomatix and click HDR then generate. / Select browse and load your pics then ok. / A box then opens up and gives you the option of reducing ghosting artifacts, now depending on what your pic is you can choose moving objects/people or ripples. / Make your choice and click ok, you then get your first HDR image displayed on the screen and a little zoomed in box with crosshairs appears, i generally close that little box as i don’t need it but i’m sure it does something lol. / Then you click HDR again and choose tonemapping, when you do that your image will reappear in another type of screen with toggle settings next to it. / Are you still with me lololol??? / The settings on the left are: / Strength / Color Saturation / Light Smoothing / Luminosity / White Point / Black Point / Gamma / Now it is up to your personal taste so play with these settings until you are happy with the image, i also choose 768 as the image size which is located at the bottom of the screen. / When you are satisfied with the image look at the top right hand side of the screen and there is a selection of 8 bit or 16 bit, if you are wanting to save as jpeg choose 8 bit then apply. Ok now as i mentioned this is all i know and i am positive that there are many other things you can do with this program so feel free to correct anything i might have suggested that you feel is wrong. / There are many differing thoughts on HDR but i think if you like it than so will someone else so go with your heart.
