“Who could deny that privacy is a jewel? It has always been the mark of privilege, the distinguishing feature of a truly urbane culture. Out of the cave, the tribal teepee, the pueblo, the community fortress, man emerged to build himself a house of his own with a shelter in it for himself and his diversions. Every age has seen it so. The poor might have to huddle together in cities for need’s sake, and the frontiersman cling to his neighbors for the sake of protection. But in each civilization, as it advanced, those who could afford it chose the luxury of a withdrawing-place.” ~ Phyllis McGinley Acrylic, mixed media abstract painting inspired by the Chauvet Cave of southern France. Original is 16” x 20”

this is actually a fractal fragment of a grave .. I always feel like sombodys watching me , Rockwell I’m just an average man with an average life / I work from nine to five, hey hell I pay the price / All I want is to be left alone in my average home / But why do I always feel like I’m in the Twilight Zone / And… / CHORUS: / I always feel that somebody’s watchin’ me / And I have no privacy / I always feel that somebody’s watchin’ me / Tell me is it just a dream? / When I come home at night / I bolt the door real tight / People call me on the phone I’m trying to avoid / Well, can the people on TV see me or am I just paranoid / CHORUS / When I’m in the shower, I’m afraid to wash my hair / ‘Cause I might open my eyes and find someone standing there / People say I’m crazy, just a little touched / But maybe showers remind me of Psycho too much / That’s why… / I always feel like somebody’s watching me / And I have no privacy / I always feel like somebody’s watching me / Who’s playin’ tricks on me? / I don’t know anymore / Are the neighbors watching me / Well is the mailman watching me / And I don’t feel safe anymore, oh what a mess / I wonder who’s watching me now?
A late afternoon sun casts lazy shadows across this barred window in downtown Clarkesville, GA. What most intrigued me about this scene was the reflection of spring foliage behind the bars. A funny story behind this and my other grasshopper image. This guy was around 10cm long and was up in Cairns when we went on one of our many visits to my Father in laws residence. While sneaking up to take this photo, he flung his backend round and wouldn’t you guess it, his toileting effort ended up hitting me in the mouth! My partner and kids thought it was the funniest thing around. I was not amused!!!!!!!
Kitty caught off guard.
