Aquatint Etching Inspried by the movie ‘Brothers Grimm’ this series of aquatints explores the origin of fairytales and dismisses their sanitization! Here the Gingerbread man runs to envelop the child and become one! “Run, run as fast as he could / he couldn’t escape the / Gingerbread Hood” Yeah I know it’s a lame rhyme but then so am I! This is a Collagraph which I am most proud of…..this is the original colour of the print and instead of rolling it through the press I have made a Monoprint of the actual print. Gosh, what does that mean…well the original plate is run through the press (see blue one). This one however is rubbed off the plate, so the print is not so deep. Its a one off, where as the others are editions. Mmmm, still confused? Hope not. B 2343 on 27/11/09 Printed in Blue – I only have four of these prints.

This is an etching. Its called a soft ground etching on a copper plate. I have actually hand painted this particular one now. Once I knew what colours I wanted. This is French blue and red. I love the color combination and now I like the print so much more.
Hand painted edtion I did today for the “She” competition in Dandenong next month. That is if I get selected! This image comes from a photograph of me at 15 years of age….sitting at Mirror Lake viewing the beauty of the world for the very first time. It was such a memorable moment for me. Then it was back to the cowboy who took the photograph! This is a woodcut, a rather large woodcut. It is hand painted with ink. I enjoy the process of wood cuts, then handpainting. Its an extremely long process but every stage of the development is enjoyable.
Scanned monoprint. No digital manipulation.
Digital printmaking etching. This is the original manipulated on photoshop. Could you please tell me which one you like better. The coloured one, or this sepia one. I am asking so that I can get an idea which one to hand in for assessment. As I can easily ink up one just like this. I have the plate and can ink up in class anytime. Your thoughts would be great. Billy.
