  • This is a woodcut reduction print. Those of you who have done a reduction print know what it takes to finish a print . I did 20 prints and in the process not one was perfect, however they were all brilliant and look wonderful mounted and framed up. / I have downloaded a larger image size of this print and did some more handpainting. I still have the original green and yellow. This is 1/20 print reduction.

  • This is not my original sketch….I did it from a visual I saw somewhere…..but I carved it out of wood and its an A1 Catridge University Paper. Which means I had to cut this piece of wood FORVER! In fact I am going to take a photograph of the woodcut so you can see it. / 454 Views on 27/11/09 This particular print has sold with the woodcut plate. Did make an edition before I sold the plate.

  • Yes, this is a lino cut, if you can believe it. I have to try and get a little simpler with the cutting. I spent weeks on this.

  • Scanned monoprint with digital manipulation of colour.

  • Rubber tile/block print. / Background is hand-coloured and transferred to paper, with overprinting of the dark areas of the antelope. Inspired by a visit to the De Hoop Nature Reserve in the Western Cape, South Africa – a very large natural area of approximately 34,000 ha managed by the Cape Nature Conservation. I believe the Bontebok is an endangered species. In real life the colours of the Bontebok are chocolate brown and white. In this print I have used a dark blue and white to create an impression of evening/approaching night. But the darker tone also serves to create a more dramatic effect, or contrast, to draw greater attention to the animal shapes and gestures.

  • This is my second copper plate etching with aquatint. The process is long but so rewarding. This is also done in collaboration with Barssel’s TheSea and I will post his link to his original photographic work of this model. Its because of his kindness that I am able to produce such works this year….not too many woman want to get naked for me….? Anyway, the copper plate is etched then but into the ferric acid. So what you have at first are lines and marks…which is great but I want a deeper bite then that. So then I spray and put plate back into the ferric acid. The lines bite deeper and where I have dusted with bitchumen spray the plate bites. I take the plate out of the acid and cover up or “stop” out the areas I want lighter and return the copper to the acid bath. This can go on all day, as each time I print up a copy to see where I am at. This plate was completed yesterday and I am happy with the final result. Printmaking is an amazing medium to work in, its endless with possibilities. I am so passionate about the art now that I doubt I will ever want to do anything else. Its like leaving your mark on a piece of paper, a mark that is etched forever…its old fashioned but I love it. 1356 Views on 21/11/09 Hope you like “Ruban Jane”. Billy Delta Dawn / !

  • This is a Woodcut Print. I have originally inked up the wood before I started cutting it. I rolled around 20 plates with different colours. This sets up the background colours. The following week I took the same piece of wood and started carving out the picture of the flowers and the birds. Inked up the plate and placed it over the already dry colour pieces of paper. The end result is about 20 prints, all of which are unique and different. The prints are printed on University Paper with blue denim ink. WILL POST A BETTER IMAGE OF THIS TOMORROW.

  • I did another one of my woodcuts as I prepare for a show, this one is handpainted with inks. I only have three or four of these prints and am getting ready to frame up and enter in a show. • Print made from woodcut print. Tried painting the woodcut like Cressinda Campbell and than printing it by spraying water. This did not work. so than I hand painted the whole print with watercolor paints. Layering day after day. Then outlining with black ink. The result is stunning. I think so anyway! 802 Views as of 21.12.09 This print has been updated on 21/12/09 with a lighter version. Think its better now. CLOSE UP OF WOODCUT PRINT THE ACTUAL WOOD PLATE
