  • “Not-Drawings of the day” is a work with setting in abyme… : On my desk, the printed image of the photograph of the day before, which I photograph, then that then I print, who find his place on my desk then… All that accumulates on this table, where I can’t draw any more !! :))... A history of 18 (weeks) and 124 (days). My printer didn’t like red. All prints are blue or green. • "THE FLASHER"
    by Dayonda

    US$3.99–US$91.20

He loved this printer until we gave it away. We gave it away because every time I left it open and turned around, Sebastian, at left, would take a photo of his bum. He knew exactly which button to push, too, and pushed it about twoice a month. I got faster and faster, and remembered to leave the lid down more and more often, but Sebastian also got faster and faster. So now we have another printer exactly like this one. This time it’s Hubby’s turn to mind the printer and keep the darned cat off it. I wish him luck.

But there is another angle, where every shot is open to interpretation. / By the hand and the three points of light in the darkness. This is not a paid advertisement or endorsement For a while I had this itch to print my own artwork, and began researching. I wanted a printer which would consistently produce gallery-quality, lasting, prints. I wanted it to do A3 at a breeze. I wanted it to do monochrome prints on Fine Art paper as if it was made for it and not under protest. I wanted to see in the prints the vibrant colour I see on my screen, and I wanted to see the pin-sharp detail I’m getting from the 21.6 megapixel Canon EOS 5D Mark II. I found what I was looking for at PMA Australia 2009 a few weeks ago – the Canon Pixma 9500 Mark II. I wasn’t so much stunned as stoooned by this machine. Ten ink cartridges, 3 of which were devoted to B&W, ultra-quiet. Jaw-dropping colour management. It’s a hefty price at $1400, and each ink cartridge costs $30. But without trying I’ve already started recouping the cost, having sold this morning 2 prints (Majestic Falls and Squall) for $100 to the Payroll Office at work and got a free lunch from a nearby cafe for giving them another one for free to hang on their wall and help promote my site. Which is pretty cool as I estimate each A3 print is costing me $10 in paper and ink to produce. The best part is, those in the know will tell you the original Pixma 9500 will produce the same print quality. All I have to do now is manage the dispute over the space the printer is taking, as I sorta pirated my daughter’s study space. (Hey, she’s on uni holidays!) :)
