Impressionist, painterly / two boys doing what they do best in the rain. Digital painting is an emerging art form in which traditional painting techniques such as watercolor, oils, etc. are applied using digital tools by means of a computer, a digitizing tablet and stylus, and software. Digital painting differs from other forms of digital art, particularly computer-generated art, in that it does not involve the computer rendering from a model. The artist uses painting techniques to create the digital painting directly on the computer. / I create the painting, directly on my PC, by using a Wacom tablet, a stylus pen and ArtRage painting software. The Wacom tablet can be compared to a canvas or watercolor paper surface. The stylus pen is my paintbrush.

I was off to take some photographs of some waterfalls in the Breacon Beacons in Wales when I almost missed this scene. Had there not been a break in the cloud I may have missed it. It was probably the best drive by shooting photograph I have to date. I’ve had a little play in photoshop and thought I’d post the results. / The original was shot using a Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 27mm, f/8, 1/60 sec, ISO 400. No filters used and mounted on the car door. I then upped the exposure in photoshop with a layered PS approach and added some crows for effect. I hope you like it. © Copyright 2009 David Reid – redtree.me – All rights reserved.

VIEW IT LARGE HERE I took a drive this afternoon, because I was bored. Chasing some light. The sky was dismal to say the least. / I drove down to the lake and it was choppy and overcast, so I drove off, that’s when I noticed the change of light in the rear view mirror. The sun had finally broke through the thick cloud from the west, so I turned around and looked toward the jetty and the light was something else, I jumped out scrambling through my camera bag because I knew it wouldnt last. / I got it, it was only seconds after I took this shot that it was back to overcast. It pays to take a second glance :) Too many techniques in photoshop to mention. / f/11 Nikon D80
