I grew up in the Dakota’s in the USA and was quite used to snow…sand was not so usual here. The first time I saw snow and sand together in Norway, I was amazed! I had always thought that when there was sand, there was warmth! WRONG!

Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado…..and how I love shooting up there when the winter weather begins to roll on in…the wind is bad, the air—-freezing cold, but the images that one can capture are filled with atmosphere and drama, case in point, this shot here. The main stencil image is one layer of the four layer stencil I created in early 2008 inspired by my interest in fashion photography. ‘Snow and Umbrella’ is 1 of 3, utilising the same same stencil and composition of works I’ve posted on Red Bubble at the moment. Taken on a very rare snowy morning in Bristol on my way to work. / Its the first time I have shot in the snow and the first time I have used my new tripod, so I was able to get nice slow speeds with a tight aperture. / A little work in PS to correct the colour and sharpen etc. Taken with a Nikon D70 and a CPL.

I always wanted a “classic” kind of Elk shot, where one can see the steam coming out of their nose and mouth after the Bugle, with snow falling and such, and I think I finally was able to get it !
