Varying degrees of wet and dry sand at Humarock Beach, Scituate, MA.
Lone rock in the sand…taken at Red River Beach, Harwich Port, MA.
This is a 11” x 14” acrylic painting on watercolour paper of fishermen at Collaroy Beach in Australia. We were lucky enough to see this enormous wave come crashing in on the pier, which was our catch of the day with the camera!! The anglers did not move and just stood their ground. /
This spectacular fantasy-scape features the Pyramids and Sphynx at Giza. A midnight Sun glows mysteriously as a portentous comet scribes an arc in the ancient desert sky. This Egyptian scene was created to help raise funding for Habitat for Humanity. Thank you all for your interest in our causes. :)
This painting is watercolour on paper and is the second of my Mornington Peninsular painting series. Thank you all again for the kind comments, faves and watches. I really do appreciate them. Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Ocean Views – Cape Tribulation ============================================== / Featured in the Top 10 of World_Heritage_Listed_Properties Challenge My_Favourite_Heritage_Listed_Property_Site ============================================== / Looking out to the Great Barrier Reef and the Coral Sea. Rainforested mountains sweep down to long sandy beaches. One of the most biologically diverse areas in the world, the Cape Tribulation area was included in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area in 1988. Daintree National Park, World Heritage Cape Tribulation, Far North Queensland, Australia (approximately 150km north of Cairns). The cape was named by Captain Cook in the late 1700’s, since it was just a little north of here that his trials and tribulations started when he ran his ship on to the Endeavour Reef. July to August are some of the best months to escape to the Tropics! Canon PowerShot A650 IS

Went walk about on the sand dunes this evening, with the light changing all the time. D3
A trip to visit some relatives in Scotland brought me back to my childhood playground and were my father used to play when he was a child. One of the best sandy beaches on the East Coast of Scotland, Fraserburgh is also a well known fishing port. Also they have the best Italian ice cream and is a must whenever I go back, whatever the weather. Quite early, and the tide was coming in, I only dropped the camera in the surf twice, but was glad the shot still was in the camera when I got home. Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 28mm, f/4, 1/640 sec, ISO 800. No filters used. Dust and scratches removed in photoshop, chromatic abs removed by color blend. This shot is also available from a photobook collection called Coastal Mementos by redtree.me © Copyright 2009 David Reid – redtree.me – All rights reserved.
What defines me? Without using a single living being in my photograph? Here is the answer: A self portrait – capturing my cast shadow on the dune sand. I grew up in the desert, and therefore in a second world country (and not quite in the first world). Living conditions and the dry surroundings defined and conditioned me. I am very water conscious, frugal, inventive, resourceful, adventurous, nomadic, with a hint of gypsy-like blood in me. The textured and rippled dune sand could reflect many things: The immense love for textures, not just in art forms and photographs, but also in life. There is no room for mediocrity, but everything done slightly out of the norm, with life’s small ripples and speed bumps taken with a sense of humour and a sense of adventure. Slightly adjusted layers and light in Photoshop. Taken April 2009, Namibia © Gudrun Eckleben, www.geeart.com

Beach erosion at Mantoloking Beach, New Jersey from the NorEaster that pounded Virginia for days. the storm is currently moving northeast away from NJ. / Taken November 14, 2009 / Nikon D80 w/24-120mm VR We lost about half our sand dunes at this location. This shot was taken 5 hours after high tide. For approaching low tide we dont even have half the beach we usually do. If you notice the stairs on the left they use to stop before the dunes ended on the surf side, and was resting on sand. Now there is about 8 feet of space from the bottom step to the ground. Bay Head Beach, New Jersey still feeling the force of the NorEaster, November 14, 2009. / Nikon D80 W/24-120mm VR At one of my favorite jetties, that I love hanging out at, and have quite a few images of it in my gallery. I was able to have beach access here, unlike at Mantoloking Beach. What a different perspective getting at eye level with the waves. I had to keep checking to make sure I was far enough away. Didnt want to get my camera wet! :)
