He plays to the Priestess in her temple, knowing he can not speak of his love for her, but he can play his heart away. Garron (the violinist) is a conceptial character for a possibly future comic. If the final design still resembles this character, he may be taken down. But until then, enjoy!

Continuing his journey, the Fool comes upon a beautiful and mysterious veiled lady enthroned between two pillars and illuminated by the moon. She is the opposite of the Magician, quiet where he was loquacious, still where he was in motion, sitting while he stood, shrouded in the night where he was out in the bright of day. She is the High Priestess and she astonishes the Fool by knowing everything about him. “Since you know me so well, perhaps you can help me,” says the Fool, laying out his sword, chalice, staff and pentacle. “The Magician showed me these tools, but now I’m in a quandry. There’s so many things I could do with them. I can’t decide.” In answer, the High Priestess hands over to him a pair of ancient scrolls. “These will teach you how to decide.” Seating himself at her feet, the Fool reads by the light of her crescent moon. Finally, the Fool knows enough that he can now decide what he wants, where he will go, and what he will do. Though he suspects that the High Priestess has even more secrets she could teach him-like what lies behind the pomegranate curtain-he is focused and ready to be on his way. Thanking the High Priestess, he heads off. But as he leaves he hears her whisper, quiet as the waters which bubble up from beneath her throne, “We’ll meet again…when you’re ready to travel the most secret path of all.” The High Priestess is knowledge, instinctual, supernatural, secret knowledge. She holds scrolls of arcane information that she might, or might not reveal to you. / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / To read more go to this site

For my secret Santa on DA, whom i will link and credit character design when they receive the image on the arranged date because i don’t want any spoiling :D i just hate not posting images tho XD it grinds away at me like an insatiable itch. The background was a few photos I arranged and colour changed then applied the reduce noise filter to give it the painted feel =D Many thanks to my sister who loves Egypt and gave me a few tips for the picture. <3> Comments and Critique welcome

Model – Sarah Grillo Whilst doing my honours degree I decided to base the practical work on a series of contemporary portraits exploring the characters of the 22 cards of the Major Arcana in the Tarot – I had an esoteric upbringing, bear with me. / The series was called ‘Catch 22’ and this particular piece is ‘The High Priestess’. It featured on the cover of Artlink once upon a time, and was displayed alongside 4 other pieces from the series at the PICA Hatched ‘04 exhibition in Perth. All I can say is yay for Coles and their marketing director having a sense of humour. Copyright 2008 Harmony Nicholas
