  • / My ‘Portrait of Vincent Price’ is officially published in the coffee table book Artists of the West / For information on purchasing a signed copy of the book, go to Carrie Glenn Studios Thanks! RedBubble Awards: Winner Of The Pencil Drawing Group Contest* / ” Human Emotion “ Read the Write Up Here My drawing was featured in the group The Eyes Have It / (Thanks Everyone!) 5”x8” Charcoal, graphite and ink on paper. There is hardly enough time or words to sum up Vincent Price properly. He was a teacher, an actor, a collector of art and a chef to name a few. He had a true philanthropists heart and was a man of many talents and a creative pioneer. He has left a fingerprint on our society and myself. In my portrait of Vincent, in every wrinkle I reproduced, in every mole I fastidiously drew and in every single hair I portrayed I see his achievements. There are many fine details in this portrait. You will see the veins in his eyes countered by the shine and drama I captured in them. You will see every wrinkle on his hand and every whisker in his mustache. It is designed to transport you back to the last film you may have seen him in and capture that vivid memory. As you study this piece you can almost hear his voice still speaking. Hello! As I’m sure you’re all aware – there’s a bit of an economic storm brewing at the moment. RedBubble is weathering the storm; below is the latest sales graph from 2 Feb 07 to 20 Nov 08 – things are still going in the right direction. However, we think it’s important to ‘shorten the sails’ and respond to the environment. This means we’re going to selectively increase prices on a few of our products. Namely t-shirts (in Australia), cards and mounted prints. The price changes will occur at about 1 a.m. GMT on 24 November – (i.e. at the end of this coming weekend – UK time). We’re providing this notice so you can take advantage of the old prices for one last weekend. T-shirts In Australia only t-shirts will increase in price to AUD25. RedBubble T-shirts are made in the USA and printed in Germany – and as all Australians will know the Australian dollar has lost about 25% of it’s value in the couple of months against the USD and EUR. We’ve ‘sucked up’ the currency loss – hoping that things would return to ‘normal’ but it doesn’t look like they will any time soon. So the price of a t-shirt will increase to AUD25 to allow RedBubble to make some money on t-shirt sales. Cards We’ve been making the cards at cost since they launched in 2007. Our thinking was to make a spectacular product and once they started selling like hot cakes we’d work out how to make them automatically. They’ve been selling like hot cakes pretty much since we first launched them, but despite our best efforts we haven’t been able to automate the production of the cards (they are all made by hand). So to date there’s been no return to RedBubble on any card sales. So that we can now make a return on cards the prices will be changed to: USD 3.32 / CAD 3.32 / EUR 2.27 / GBP 1.57 / AUD 3.50 Mounted prints We wanted a product that was positioned in between the price of a print and a framed print. We thought the mounted print would be that product – but the cost of gatorboard (the backing used in a mounted print) is very high. We’ve essentially been selling the mounted prints at cost for the last year so that it could occupy this mid price point while we tried to find a replacement for gatorboard with all the same high quality characteristics (light and strong). However, we haven’t been able to find a replacement. So we’re looking to introduce the following new pricing for mounted prints to enable us to make a return on mounted prints. __ USD EUR GBP AUD CAD Small 38.00 26.00 18.00 40.00 38.00 Medium 52.25 35.75 24.75 55.00 52.25 Large 71.25 48.75 33.75 75.00 71.25 We’ll still keep working on a process to automate the production of cards or a better way of mounting prints. And if we do improve our production arrangements we’ll look to pass this cost saving back to the community. These prices rises will enable RedBubble to remain financially strong … and to pay the salaries of these lovely people who are working hard to make RedBubble a better site and to help you share and sell your work: We make these changes with the greatest of reluctance, but we do think it’s essential to keep RedBubble financially strong. Ciao, Peter PS – Just a reminder that the price of Framed prints, Canvas Prints, Calendars, Laminated Prints are all unaffected by these price changes.

  • Imagine being born again. Only this time your mother is the earth and you come fully equipped with memories, knowledge and a belief system. What raw emotions are evoked when the first thing you are confronted with is an environment completely foreign to what you were expecting? / Fear, confusion, doubt and loneliness. / Or because of the new environment one may lose their inhibitions, feel joy or perhaps discover inner strength and courage. It took several weeks of my blatant flirting before James realised I actually meant it in all those bubblemails about taking me on a date. In the end I just asked him out and thankfully he said yes. Jump forward to last weekend and it was his turn to do the asking, but the answer was still yes. / / / / .
