Siberian Eagle Owl. This is the largest species of owl in the world and can take prey as big as small deer, small foxes and cats! ;o) For those of you interested: / this was shot with the new Canon EOS 50D using a Canon EF 400mm L lens (handheld), ISO 1600!!!

WILD & FREE / / Polar bear mum and cubs just going with the floe! / / The sea ice is shrinking at an alarming rate, which has a huge impact for the bears as this is their main hunting ground. More and more bears are being found to have drowned while trying to find the ice, even though they can swim up to sixty miles or so! / / I hope the ice does not completely vanish and that they always have somewhere to hut! (Spitsbergen – Scandinavian Arctic) / /

WILD & FREE / / We were so lucky to spend hours with this mum and cubs as they moved around the ice flows. These cubs were around seven months old and full of joy – although they did not seem all that keen to keep up with mum. / / The sea ice is shrinking at an alarming rate, which has a huge impact for the bears as this is their main hunting ground. Harris Hawk doing his thing at Liberty’s Raptor and Reptile Centre, Ringwood, Hampshire. Ye gads – snapping birds in flight is a hit or miss art! I just got lucky with this one and got a hit! ;o) Canon EOS 5D Mk II with Canon EOS 70-200mm L IS f/4 lens handheld (if you want to use a tripod for this sort of thing, then I know a good shrink!) ;o) I have never said this before on RB, but viewing the larger image is recommended!
