  • 7 crafty spastic lines pretending to be art
    by Danny

Seven spastic lines all searching for an image

Lucan came up with the title after ehmaysink replied to a comment I made a long time ago in a thread and it’s been sitting in my notebook ever since. / I think this would make a good challenge for the T-Shirt designers if they wanted. Pick a line / Any line / and interpret / Most of these lines came to me when I was trying to go to my “special place” while being tortured at a dance recital for girls between the ages of 4 and 15 years. / The main aim of these childern (as far as I could figure out before I slipped into a coma) was to bounce off each other like pinballs in brightly coloured lycria and giggle.

  • The Pretender
    by Judi Taylor

Keeping the pain at a distance gives her no comfort. Its murky darkness threatens to invade every happy thought, every forced smile.

Sometimes the most painful thing is the silent pain.

  • NO MORE PRETENDING
    by Alexandra Jack

The real me is loved by God who sees what I can become in His son.

This poem was written in response to God showing me that I was hiding behind masks and was scared of what people would think of the real me.. And the last line sums up how I am seen by God.

  • HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW
    by JaneAParis

...mary said, with a very angry shake of her head / twisting her neck completely sideways / to look you straight in the f’ing eyes…

This is about lies, torture, and female health problems (the garden), thus impacting fertility, sexuality, and well-being in general. This is about having to deal with people who pretend to care about you, asking you ‘how you are’, when they really don’t care, and they actually know that you are being intentionally abused. This is about inflicting pain on another human being that never heals. This is about mutual hatred. It is also about a life skill that is extremely hard to master, moving sideways because you have no choice, not forward or backward, like others.

  • Pretend to be happy.
    by Maria Hall

In love. But not who it should be. what to do.

Given all I have done and said / Repeating the same mistakes and lies
