You’ll notice in the background there are these pewter mugs hanging proudly, they belong to the President’s Eleven, which is a special group of players who are allowed to have free beer on Saturday nights in the clubrooms after a game… it’s a special club – I’m not that good at cricket yet to join… maybe one day!

The dirty lord of the manor surveys his filthy domain. Too many nights raising hell worked a little all too well. Constructed a monument to denial and excess, sunk so low, crawled so far back there’s nowhere left to regress. If these walls could talk, they would tell a horror story; Never-ending winter, violence and infidelity. Shadows fall through broken panes. Careless words that are filled with hate. Just enough to keep it together, never enough to make it work. Follow the path of least expectance. I don’t hate you, I’m just removing an enemy. Remorse is for the dead, my enemy. Remorse is for the dead.

For the first time in American history there will be a Democratic Party Candidate for President who is either a Black male or a White female running against a White male Republican Party Candidate. Never mind the hate speech both Clinton and Obama have sparked by their bid for the nomination. I can now tell my son that this is America where little boys and girls, of any race or religion, can grow up to be President ( I hope). I was literally blown away when I finally visited Mount Rushmore for the first time last fall and saw it with my own eyes. A work of art from every scenic viewpoint, my humble photo hardly does it justice. Photo taken with Kodak EasyShare zoom digital camera.

In the background can be seen Verdala Palace, originally built in 1586 for use as a hunting lodge by Grand Master Hughes Loubenx de Verdalle (GrandMaster from 1581 till 1595). He later turned the palace into his Summer Residence. Built on a hill and surrounded by Buskett Gardens, it offers a fantastic view of most of the Island and the surrounding Mediterranean Sea. / The Palace is efficiently fortified externally and beautifully decorated internally. / In 1930, the wife of the then British Governor Sir Charles Bonham-Carter ordered that all the Mythological figures and two virtues painted by the Florentine Artist Filippo Paladini in the late 16th. Century, be painted over as she was shocked by the partially nude figures. / However, the man in charge, realising that this artistic treasure would be lost forever, applied a coat of varnish to all the paintings to preserve them, before applying a coat of whitewash on top. / These paintings have been magnificently restored recently and can now be enjoyed by the general public.
