  • Poulnabrone dolmen is a 5,000 year old portal tomb in the limestone Burren area of County Clare, Ireland. The dolmen consists of a massive flat capstone supported on several upright pillars, and would originally have been covered by a mound of earth. Archeological excavations found several traces of human remains at the burial site, which now stands as a stark reminder of an ancient civilisation. Looking back through the mists of time, who knows what ancient religious rites took place at this barren and windswept scene? Winner of the Heritage in Stone group challenge Stone Circles and Standing Stones.

  • ORIGINAL $300 plus postage and handling This mandala was created after a big breathwork meditation in which I felt the spirits of my grandmothers and greatgrandmothers all the way back to prehistory reach out to me. It was a time of crisis for me and to feel the essence of my maternal history with me, I was able to pass through and come out the other side relatively whole. The mandala symbolizes the presence of my foremothers all the way back to prehistory. The horses symbolize power and freedom. The all seeing eye is open to the wisdom of the past and the challenges and opportunities of the future. The colours are the colours of the earth, the sky, the wind and the rain. It is a powerful meditation tool linking my present with my past. Enjoy:) From the original acrylic on canvas, 20 inch x 20 inch All images are fully copyrighted, all rights reserved. • A popular tourist cave, Tham Lod is in Mae Hong Son Province, northwest Thailand. Formed by a river that has carved its way through a limestone mountain, the massive tunnel is heavily decorated with calcite formations. Apart from being the main source of income for the local Shan villagers, the cave is also home to 300,000 swifts that nest in the ceiling every night, while the cave bats leave to consume insects. Known since prehistoric times, higher caverns also feature rock art and ancient teak-wood coffins. This photograph was taken with a Nikon FM2, an exposure of several minutes, using kodachrome slide film. The cave is 500 metres downstream from where I live.
