  • The jaguar is a near threatened species and its numbers are declining. Threats include habitat loss and fragmentation. While international trade in jaguars or their parts is prohibited, the cat is still regularly killed by humans, particularly in conflicts with ranchers and farmers in South America. Although reduced, its range remains large; given its historical distribution, the jaguar has featured prominently in the mythology of numerous indigenous American cultures, including that of the Maya and Aztec. / (from Wikipedia) /

  • Pride exemplified via Mramba, the male African lion at the Virginia Zoo. The future of African predators is in peril. It is estimated that only 10,000-15,000 free-roaming African lions remain, down from 50,000 a decade ago. African lions are now listed as Endangered (West African subspecies) and Vulnerable (East and Southern African subspecies) by the World Conservation Union and are on Appendix II of the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) list. African lions are in danger of disappearing altogether due to disease (FIV, bovine tuberculosis, canine distemper) and habitat encroachment. Today’s modern world subjects lions and other wildlife to many dangers. Mankind constantly seizes more and more of the remaining wild areas of Africa, forcing lions onto smaller and smaller parcels of land. Large-scale developments destroy the lion’s natural habitat. In areas inhabited by livestock, lions are frequently shot, snared or poisoned. And sadly, the hunting of these amazing animals for “sport,” for man’s pleasure, is still encouraged as a revenue producing industry by many African governments. African predators simply will not survive unless they are protected. 100% of proceeds from any sales of this image will be donated to the Virginia Zoo

  • Amur Leopard- Endangered- only 30 remainding in the wild / Sometimes my own photography makes me smile and emotional..:) / /

  • The King Vulture Portrait…... Please view this bird larger he is stunning ! ... (-: The King Vulture, is a large Central and South American bird in the New World vulture family Cathartidae. This vulture lives predominantly in tropical lowland forests stretching from southern Mexico to northern Argentina. The adult King Vulture is the most strikingly colored of the New World Vultures. King Vultures have lived up to 30 years in captivity, though their lifespan in the wild is unknown. This vulture uses urohydrosis, defecating on its legs, in order to lower its body temperature. Despite its bill and large size, it is relatively unaggressive at a kill and will normally back down rather than fight. The King Vulture lacks a voice box, though it can make low croaking noises and wheezing sounds. Its only natural predators are snakes, which will prey upon the vulture’s eggs and young, and large cats such as jaguars, which may surprise and kill an adult vulture at a carcass. The King Vulture feeds solely on carrion and, unlike some New World Vultures, is not known to kill sick or dying animals for food.It often eats stranded fish along river banks, but does not come to village refuse dumps for food.Though it has keen eyesight which can help it locate food. There is evidence that suggests a decline in population, though it is not significant enough to cause it to be listed. This decline is due primarily to habitat destruction and poaching.

  • Another one from my “snow” series of these beautiful Siberian tigers!

  • Finally, two more chicks pop up out of the Owls borough to make a total of 3 additions to the family. It’s Astonishing to see this Owl stay over and protect her young so consistently, and so patiently. Taken on Hutchinson Island, Florida.

  • This is one of the most beautiful wolves I’ve ever seen. While the white coat suggests arctic wolf, the body structure is Alaskan timber wolf- long legs and body, long snout and huge feet. The intelligence and awareness of wolves is something one has to experience first-hand to truly appreciate. They are magnificent animals whose spirit will never be contaminated by humans. The original painting is done in water mixable oils on 13’‘x15’’ hardboard.

  • Taken from my workplace in Port Hardy, BC on Vancouver Island. / Thank you for viewing! / / /

  • A Great White Shark, Carcharodon carcharias, shows his brightest smile. / Guadaloupe Island, Mexico, Pacific Ocean.

  • Photo captured at the Calgary zoo. Many of you may have heard of the tiger here that recently attacked two people that broke into the zoo late at night. Well here is the guilty party involved : ) Not only were the two injured very badly but they were also criminaly charged with trespassing !! Cant blame the cat for that ! / /

  • Demon vs Bunny Rabbit.

  • A very cooperative and relaxed fox, early on a frigid and snowy Christmas morning. Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) / City Park, Wheat Ridge, CO / Sony a700 / Sigma 300/f/2.8 / Jobu gimbal, Giottos tripod ISO 320, 1/400, f/5, +2/3EV
