Getting all geared up in his regalia….he stands so strong and proud. Head tilted ready to face the challenge of the day and festivities ahead of him….... / This young man? Was picked as the Head Dancer for this Pow Wow…..an awesome feat for one so young…and he kept going the WHOLE day!!! / BTW? He’s only 7….with his great-grandfather on the drums…....
These lovely ladies are featured here in their wonderful regalia…made of bone, quill and beading….The lady in the front sports the bone and bead look that has been passed down for generations….the dear madame behind her has the quill work that is so quickly fading from our sights….
Donning the mask imparts the powers of the spirit to the dancer. Masks are still very relevant in traditional American Indian culture.

/ I took this photo at the New Mexico State Fair, in the Indian Village in Albuquerque, New Mexico USA. This gentleman and many others were competing in the NM State Fair Pow Wow Dance Competition.. The Emotion & the Intensity, the Vibrant colors of their Costumes & Regalia, is Stunning!!
This is another one of my collection of photos that I took at the New Mexico State Fair Pow Wow Dance/Drum competition in the Indian Village that was held in Albuquerque, New Mexico USA
