  • One loud clap with two pieces of wood and they are off!

  • Ashmark Farm and Glen Afton, near New Cumnock in Ayrshire.

  • I was driving home from Akaroa to Christchurch, NZ, late in the afternoon during winter – the sun was going down and was lighting up the power lines and the toitoi grasses growing alongside the road.

  • Happened upon this today as I drove thru the countryside, the colors and distant view was beautiful in the late afternoon sun as the rays hit the tree tops!

  • we had a 9 hour ice storm 12/11/08 that left us without power for 6 days. The Monadnock Region of New Hampshire (NH) was one of the hardest hit areas in this 4 state storm. At its height, over 1.5 mil people were without power with over 400,000 of them in NH. Some parts hope to have electric by the new year. Poles snapped in half, transformers blew, trees tangled up in lines bent over and when 3 days later as the inch or more layer starting really melting snapped back in to place taking lines with them.
