  • In a special moment that will last for eternity for me is captured here. The day following the successful summit of Island Peak I felt truely amazing – I had pushed, endured and achieved more than I had really felt possible. Walking back down the Imja Drengka valley from Island Peak I was talking to my fellow trekkers and said ”...as much as I feel absolutely amazing and am on the biggest natural high, there’s one other thing that I’ve been looking for and haven’t seen yet… a massive ice avalanche!” And literally, (no really) as I spoke the work ‘avalanche’, we heard a thunderous roar and turned to see this. The length of this avalanche from top to bottom as seen here would be more than a 1000m, down the face of the Nuptse-Lhotse Wall, which gave me enough time to shoot a couple of photos. A friend exclaimed that God was listening to me, I must agree.

  • This rusty old cast iron spoon was tough for me to draw due to the extremely poor fashion in which it was cast. I didn’t know how perfect I wanted it to be or if I wanted the painting to reflect the poor casting. In the end, as in typical watercolor fashion, it defined itself. The piece is painted with Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# paper. The original size of the piece is 10” x 14”. After several years, I finally learned that these spoons are Welsh Love Spoons so I changed the titles of the pieces. Artist Jean Haines noticed them and let me know their origins. Featured in Painters in Modern Times group in August 2009. /

  • I found this fire hydrant in the middle of an open field in Seabrook, Washington while on vacation with my family. I decided it would be too lonely to paint by itself so I added a brick wall. The painting is done with Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paint and Daniel Smith Primatek watercolor paint on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper. The combination of the heavy granulating characteristics of the paint along with the very textured surface of the Arches paper creates the illusion of textured details on everything in the piece. The original piece is 10.25”x14” in size. Featured in Realist Traditional Art group in August 2009. / Featured in Art Up Close group in October 2009. /

  • Original oil on stretched canvas 48×24 x 1.5. 2009

  • The white water walk at Niagara Falls allows you to get close to the raging waters that tumble over Niagara Falls – albeit downstream of the falls themselves. Dotted within this raging landscape are rocks holding fast against the powerful eroding waters that sweep by them. Featured in The Beauty of Nature (Nothing Man-Made).

  • Influence of nature. Graceful curves. The wispy lines resambles branches and leaf motif on this piece. Enjoy it!

  • On the way to our mini-getaway in Harrison BC…we saw these beautiful fields filled with vibrant red bushes…..blueberry fields in their full autumn glory. I thought they made an interesting contrast against the yellow brush, the green grass and the sky.

  • Music has the power to cause emotions to well up within us. These feelings are gripping – often irresistible – and seem to emerge from nowhere. These feelings colour our moods, affect our perceptions and generate a behavioural pattern. The indisputable fact about music is its power to evoke emotions. Music has touched the human soul across all boundaries of time, space, and genre. Indeed, the healing power of music has been documented for millennia.
