“Seabird In Flight” is about the form of a bird’s airborne movement in relationship with the harmonious contours of the overall landscape. The bird itself becomes a natural part of the world that it resides in. . . I love absract forms that sit on the edge between pure abstraction and a surrealism where the observer can imagine known objects or anthropormorphic shapes. I also love light. Here is use a hidden light in deep space that is lighting up realistic three-dimensional space. The globular cluster M13 is of course in the Messier object in the constellation Hercules. I have always had an interest in astronomy, cosmology, and metaphysics in general. Newer works are going to be filled with sunshine. Another shot of Maria from the last workshop. There were 7 other photographers there on the night and I usually jump in at the back for a few shots. This shot actually has another photographer’s back in it which is why Maria’s head is sitting in the middle of what looks like space. However I beleive that this head shot has an added energy beacuase the space is actually someone’s body even though the shadow is hiding this. Much of what we discuss at the workshops involves the importance of energy and this shot illustrates this I think.

So, you’ve never heard of Space Coyote? Well….I only know a few things, but enough to be blown away at the power of the internet. ROUGH + GUESSED RE-ENACTMENT: So, you’re sitting there designing as you always do. You decided that it would be cool and humorous to draw the Simpsons as Manga type characters, and so, you get to work. A little while later after putting all the characters into the lounge room, you sit back, admire your work and pop it up on the internet so some of your friends can see it. Then….almost overnight, you become famous. Ok, so this is a totally mocked up story but pretty darn close to what really happened for Space Coyote….and now, after going from ‘nothing’ to something she has also managed to WIN an EISNER AWARD (A big award for American Comic Books) for her work on the short story MURDER HE WROTE (BART SIMPSONS TREEHOUSE OF HORROR #14) Now I will be honest with you, I’m not a massive fan of Manga style art but I am a fan of inspirational stories like this. You can do more reading at her blog Love that inspiration, and love the possibilities on the net! P.s. thanks so much to everyone for commenting and favouriting and buying my designs. I appreciate it so much!

—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / A fine art print (giclée) is available on canvas or fine art paper, framed or unframed, at my Online Gallery. / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / This artwork was featured by RB groups: / Rising Stars / Solo Exhibition / The perspective view of this piece, looking across the surface of a ‘constructed’ space age flower (yes, it’s a flower) towards the depths of space, makes for a rather unusual and unique image. The flower ‘petals’ are formed from repetitive blocks of different sizes, trimmed at the petal edges to yield the proper flower shape. A large hole defines the center of the flower. The material looks like ceramic or china, and there’s a repeating circular pattern on the top face of each block, and reflected lights and shadows that play across the various semi-glossy surfaces. The distant sharp outline of the petals is broken nicely by the galactic forms in the distance. The bright white mass and circular swirls give the art a nice dramatic focal point, and coupled with the darker mass a bit farther to the right, alleviate the sharpness of the petal edges and create some blended softer transitions. If you look closely at the finished artwork you will see a small crosshatch effect. It’s more obvious in the depths of the shadows, and doesn’t show on your monitor. In no way does it detract from the art, and it is indeed intentional and softens the otherwise harder appearance. I hope you enjoy this unusual artwork! / (Uploaded at 4:30 am!)
