Hello World! Welcome to Mr Baxter’s Picture of the Week. Each and every Monday I shall peruse the last seven days of images and find one that catches my eye, then post it here, write about it and even link to it from my Twitter account. The winning image will be on sale at a 0% markup for the week, and any sales generated in that time will get the artist double the earnings in RedBubble vouchers at a standard 30% markup. They will also receive a special commemorative certificate and of course exposure, not the sort that gets you arrested though. / / —-—-—- Picture of the Week Champion – Week One – aspenrock Would you just look at this marvellous collection of black and white pixels, even devoid of colour the story is so strong. And none of it is even in the picture, it’s really all about what’s happening outside the door. Is there a fight going on? Some dancing goats? A Formula 1 pit stop? We’ve no idea, but it draws us in and tears at our minds. She’s Jules Winnfield staring into Marsellus Wallace’s briefcase. Books have been written on this unseen. It’s emotive and silent, but leaves me clawing for answers. Good Work AspenRock. —-—-—-- Go and show her your love. Hello World! It’s Monday, so it must be Picture of the Week time again. Every seven days I’ll peruse the recent image uploads and find one that catches my eye, then post it here, write about it and even link to it from my Twitter account. The repetitive but informative bit: / The winning image will be on sale at a 0% markup for the week, and any sales generated in that time will get the artist double the earnings in RedBubble vouchers at a standard 30% markup. They will also receive a special commemorative certificate and of course exposure, not the sort that gets you arrested though. / / —-—-—- Picture of the Week Champion – Week Two – Marike Kleynscheldt So this is an ingenious painting, I can barely operate a toothbrush, so the skill needed to wield a paintbrush (a skill Marike has in spades) always impresses me. But in particular this image, I do believe the boy is some kind of Hair-o-meter. He hangs around until you are ready to go out and then gives you an expression to represent what he thinks of your hair. In this case I believe it to be a snapshot from when he was brought before Don King. A unique portrait and a remarkable execution. Good Work Marike. —-—-—-- More work from Marike. / Go show your appreciation. Hello World! Because I am a man of routine, it’s Picture of the Week time again. Every seven days I’ll peruse the recent image uploads and find one that catches my eye, then post it here, write about it and even link to it from my Twitter account. The repetitive but informative bit: / The winning image will be on sale at a 0% markup for the week, and any sales generated in that time will get the artist a 60% margin in RedBubble vouchers. They will also receive a special commemorative certificate and of course exposure, not the sort that gets you arrested though. / / —-—-—- Picture of the Week Champion – Week Three – Matthew Parsons This is crazy, a muted ‘70s postcard, an abstract shape lovefest and a still from a Tim Burton movie rolled into one, with some subtle vignetting to draw you to the eyes. Not that you really need it, they’re MASSIVE. What is that thing? A tug boat? Tug boat builders in Canada have the sort of comedy streak we need to see in our politicians. And in the corner, ‘La Petite’, surely some fine irony. Love the crop, love the angles, love the colour, love the surrealism. That’s a lot of love. Great eye Matthew. —-—-—-- More work from Matthew. / Go show your appreciation.
