I am more / than the sum of these wounds, / though they threaten to engulf me. / Yet sometimes, the wounds seem greater than I, / and they drag me back into / the raw and ragged edges of memory, / where pain casts a dark shadow beside me. / Within me the hands of fate have carved / a well so deep that at times there seems / NO way out, / and I claw the walls with bleeding hands and cry for release. Is this all I am? / Is this the meaning to my existence? / Is this what I came here for? Deep within I hear the whisper that tells me to look, / there IS more. / This self same well that struggles to contain my sorrow and incubate my fears, is the same vessel that would hold all my love, / even all the love of this world, / and emanate an effervescent light of joy from its depths. / Yet I pass through it without realizing I have been a prisoner / of my own choosing. How doggedly we hollow out this well, and fill ourselves with what we know, or think we do, / how blindly we allow it to define who we are, / and sound out the rhythm of our being…. / but as deep as the pain cuts darkly, / and the wound gouges out a hollow so black, / so much deeper is that place within that might burst with love and joy, an empty space resounding with potential / and the promise of healing and truth. / IF only we could realize we are more, / than that which we let overwhelm us. I was walking through the forest and saw a red glow ahead of me in the shadows….. there was a bright red circle on a fallen tree and it drew me to it. I could not believe how bright this red wound was, on this tree, a gaping, raw, bloody hole, and it made me weep inside for all living things. This is the sight, the image, that made me think more about my own woundedness, and perhaps the wounds that we all carry and too often lose ourselves in. /

Do not view this image if you believe there are some areas that should not be joked about – disability being one of them. That being said, let me give you the idea behind this potentially offensive design. I was at the beach the other day and I see this kid with a hang 10 shirt on – one of those old Hawaiian things you used to see around. And it’s got this image of these two footprints, with these cutesy toes. So I think to myself – that’s fine for people with nice feet, but what about the rest of us. What about people with deformed feet? The concept is about TENACITY and HONESTY. Imagine if you have all these people with physical deformities who want to have fun like everyone else – so they form a surf club. They don’t have enough toes to hang ten, and they aren’t even co-ordinated enough to stay on their boards most of the time (hence the pic of the guy wiping out). But who cares? They’re there to have fun, and they don’t give a damn about what people think of them. If you have ever tried to make a ilving doing something you’re passionate about – I think you can relate. Part 1

My Cherokee grandmother often visits me in my dreamtime, last evening as the Full Moon approached, her bright pulsating light approached me in my dreams. / There was an intensity that I had not previously noticed within the beating light energy she presents with and her voice was strong. “WindOwl”, she said, “You and your fellow beings will witness the great transformation. It is reshaping the human consciousness and it will be larger than the genesis of humanity. You have seen, in the past few generations, every human experiencing more than their five senses can detect. Their understanding of themselves and their experiences are changing dramatically, as they sense themselves as more than they thought they were, more than bodies and minds, more than accidents in a random universe of inert – dead matter. Everything is an expression of Life, a form of Life – there is nothing but life and we are Life. / With this transformation comes new potential as well as new experiences, a new way of evolving as well as a new way of experiencing ourselves, and a new understanding of power. This new way of evolving is spiritual growth. The old species evolved through survival, now this will not be sufficient. We will long for more than existence, something more significant, for the reason we were born. We will long to touch meaning and purpose and to live them. This new way of understanding power will align our personality with our souls. The old way was through manipulation and control, now counterproductive and producing only violence and destruction. The new potential is the Universal Human, beyond nations, religions, races, sexes and economics – citizens of the Universe whose allegiance is to LIFE.” Her voice paused and she instructed me to breathe deeply, then she continued, “My child, you are to assist in the creation of authentic power, to contribute to the new species that we are becoming by providing support, love and tools that help illuminate the differences between the frightened parts of the personality and loving parts of the personality, revealing opportunities to challenge, cultivate and chosse intentions, consulting intuition and trust the Universe. Teach all you know to experiment with creativity, following your healthiest impulses and use your life consciously and constructively.” Her voice faded, as she showed pictures in my mind of a child being born, a marraige experiencing conflict, the nations economic turmoil to a flower emerging and opening a new vision of interpersonal and social structures built on harmony, cooperation, sharing and reverence for Life. / This was a most beautiful experience that I will treasure today, tomorrow and always…whether a dream or reality, I will heed my Grandmother’s message from the other side and continue to share. / I am grateful to be sharing this journey with you. This picture was done shortly after my wife and I lost our first child from a miscarriage, and to a certain extent this was therapy for me. It is a reminder that the potential of a single life is enormous. Inside of each apple are any number of seeds, each with a code written in them to produce a tree which in turn has loads of apple, each with the same potential. The potential of a human life is great indeed as well, to procreate, not just physically but also emotionally, mentally, and artistically. The potential for change that each life brings is beyond comprehension, though we don’t always acknowledge it, whether that life is 90 years or 9 weeks, or for my wife and I, even in pregnancy. Our lives were touched by someone unseen, and something we couldn’t put into words, and even though we were very sad, we did have the joy, however short lived, of growing life and that changed us forever. I suppose that is why I value and respect life at all stages, and want to see it reach its full potential that God has for it.
