  • Toned Black and White Photomontage From the Safara series..A contemplative woman photographed on a remote dry lake bed in the Mojave desert, a place that seems to breathe with a meditative emptiness. I wanted to create an image illustrating a woman’s inherent connection to the planet, that she was earth in her essential nature. The photo montage was made in camera. On a tripod the lake bed was photographed, then the film was backed up in the camera, and she was photographed on the same section of film, creating perfect registration of cracked earth blending into her figure.

  • The mid West Australian coast around Kalbarri is particularly rugged and the constant action of wind, waves, and tides over many millions of years have created several stunning coastal gorges as well as three or four amazing creations. This bridge is one such creation and is only visible at low tide. In this photo the setting sun was bouncing off the rocks behind me and creating a most wonderful setting that I and a couple of other photographers were taking full advantage of. Kalbarri is a popular fishing cum holiday township 150 kms north of Geraldton and getting on for 600 kms north of Perth. As well as it’s coastal gorges it is also famed for some stunning river gorges

  • About I’ve been wanting to visit this place for a few months now, Matt told me the tide is going to be good. This is a Sunrise, taken this morning. So I organized a Flickr meet this morning and mother nature came to the party. I really love how the clouds move during the 30 or so seconds, really adds some interesting texture. Oh, and by the way, I had my camera serviced on Friday, sensor cleaned, so no ‘dust spot’ cloning this time ;) This shot is 3 RAW files, shot in ‘M’ mode using the bulb exposure for each shot, the third exposure was close to 35 seconds. - ISO 100, f9, 34 seconds, 16mm / - Sigma 10-20mm Lens. / - Tripod. Processing - HDR, 3 exposures [2,0,+2EV] shot in RAW/ISO100 at f/9, using Sigma 10-20mm lens. / - Saturation tweaking in Photoshop to bring out the colours, and darken the sky. / - Various cloning to remove some small lights in the distance / - Noise reduction in Lightroom 2.0 / - Added a upsharp layer. HDR - Tone mapped using Photomatrix HDR, in detail mode. / - Saturation for highlights. / - Slightly tweaked the yellow/reds. Music Band: The Verve / Track: Velvet Morning Yes / It’s been long / And yes / I still feel strong / Into the half light / Another velvet morning for me, yeah

  • Every Rainbow has a pot of gold at it’s end. As the storm passed the rainbow came out and lined up nicely on this small building left standing in paddocks between Millicent and Kingston in the South East, (Limestone Coast) region of South Australia. Canon 400D 18-55 with CIR Polarising filter.

  • / CHUNKIE Calendar Series One now available / / Chunkies are a new series of figurines I am working on .. / / CHUNKIE Birthday Fairy / / CHUNKIE Owl / / CHUNKIE Lotus Love on Golden Pond / / CHUNKIE Mermaid / / CHUNKIE Sunshine / / CHUNKIE / Elephant / / CHUNKY Diver / / CHUNKY Indian / / CHUNKIE Surfer / / CHUNKIE Ballerina / / CHUNKIE Geisha / / CHUNKIES in love / / CHUNKIE Hula girl / / CHUNKIE China / / CHUNKIE Lollipop Lover / / CHUNKIE Forest / / CHUNKIE Party / / CHUNKIE Pirate / / CHUNKIE Mod Girl / / CHUNKIE Tooth Fairy / / CHUNKIE Mother and Child / / CHUNKIE Wedding Next in line is CHUNKIE Forest…Forest is an eco warrior and friendly angel who lives deep in the heart of the forest, she cares deeply for the environment, here she is ready and waiting for any who may stumble near….waiting with a cup of fairtrade tea and offering peace and friendship to all….she is here to remind us of how we must take care with our natural environment for the creatures, the wilderness and the future of our children… Hand crafted from plasticine, her little outfit is made from dried out teabags which were fashioned into a hat and dress….behind her is a background of pandanus dried leaves i picked up near the beach and an assortment of dried leaves and twigs i collected over time, as well, the foreground is made from a beautiful piece of paperbark supplied to me by my father in law who is in his 80’s…who lovingly found and gave it to me, knowing that i collect special things like this…this is the first time i’ve been able to use it….thank you Grandad! The butterfly and birds were taken from my painting “Thoughts and Things” and the white flower is an old plastic earring….the teapot was given to me by my father who knows I collect tiny silver things like this…..from an op shop somewhere, thank you dad! The table is a cork! Once the Chunkies are created and photographed, I usually dismantle them to be used in the creation of more chunkies, so I am recycling the plasticine. These Chunkies have been very therapeutic to create over the holidays, whilst taking a break from red bubble and having my family around. I have many more to come, and although I won’t be on RB as much, I hope to also be doing some serious painting this year…so i look forward 2009 with much anticipation …

  • I’ve shot a lot of southwest doorways. The colors, the textures, and the contrasts combine to make this my personal favorite. The warmth and richness of the wood offset the coolness of the adobe nicely and the flowerpots add a nice welcoming touch. This is a 3-shot HDR. Pentax K20D, 1/60 @ F6.3, ISO 100, 200mm
