‘Asia Series’ card and prints by Karin Taylor Little Green Teapot is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper using ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal. Gouache, Watercolour, Collage on grey St Armand Linen….the original of this painting is exactly as shown here….. We’re planting this coming long weekend, so the pots will be taken out of their winter nest of burlap, and brought into the warmth of the spring sunshine…. I saw an ad for terracotta pots many years ago, and I guess it stayed in my memory…. when I went to get my own pots out for planting, I got the idea for the shed and light coming through the window….that, plus the memory of the pile of pots were too hard to resist…..I had to do a painting… May and June. Soft syllables, gentle names for the two best months / in the garden year: cool, misty mornings gently burned away with a / warming spring sun, followed by breezy afternoons and chilly nights. / The discussion of philosophy is over; it’s time for work to begin…..Peter Loewer

Toned Black and White Photomontage From the Safara series..A contemplative woman photographed on a remote dry lake bed in the Mojave desert, a place that seems to breathe with a meditative emptiness. I wanted to create an image illustrating a woman’s inherent connection to the planet, that she was earth in her essential nature. The photo montage was made in camera.On a tripod the lake bed was photographed, then the film was backed up in the camera, and she was photographed on the same section of film, creating perfect registration of cracked earth blending into her figure.
