My Country The love of field and coppice, / Of green and shaded lanes. / Of ordered woods and gardens / Is running in your veins, / Strong love of grey-blue distance / Brown streams and soft dim skies / I know but cannot share it, / My love is otherwise. In this image I was hoping to capture the essence of the small outback community of Silverton that is so typically Australian. Not only were the Mad Max movies made there and numerous other movies and advertisements, it is a town full of history and wonderful eccentric artists. Happy New Year everyone! This shot was taken at the Sunshine Coast just before Christmas 2007….well it’s an old shot isn’t it. Taken with my Canon 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM Lens. No Filter has been used but I did some fake HDR processing (single shot) using Dynamic Photo HDR. It’s a fun program and a great alternative to Photomatix.

Rock formations at low tide. Taken with my 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens. This is a 82mm lens and I am currently using Cokin Filters (handheld).....uuuuurrgh. I am very keen to get a Lee Neutral Density Filter set. If you have this setup I would be very interested to hear from you what experiences you have made in regards to vignetting and what Lee components you have mounted on your lens. Thanks heaps

Garden Of the Gods Park, outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is without a doubt one of my all time favorite places to shoot at….the light there just dances, especially during the golden hours just after sunrise…..Pike’s Peak is in the background, with the wind blowing the snow into the sky. / Thoughts welcomed! Following on from Wrath is ‘Lust the Sin’ in the Sin series. This is the censored version as i was unsure as to the parameters of Redbubble’s ‘inappropriate content’ policy, im still not sure if this version should be deemed ‘appropriate’ but it’s part of the series so hopefully im safe! Going back to places I have been over and over before. Different tides reveal formations not seen before which is an incentive to visit the place over and over again…I am now looking forward to the low pressure system currently developing…interesting days ahead

They had just left the water and seemed to be deciding which way they should go. The Gentoo Penguin is listed as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red list of Threatened Species Melting sea ice and overfishing have triggered a dangerously rapid decline in penguin populations on the Antarctic peninsula – a direct result of global warming, warns a new report from the WWF. Temperatures on the frozen continent are rising five times faster than the global average due to the unprecedented rate of climate change, pushing four species perilously close to extinction. Warmer temperatures are forcing penguins to raise their young on increasingly thinner and more precarious ice floes, while stronger winds mean many eggs and chicks are being blown away from their parents before they are able to survive on their own. The gentoo, chinstrap and adélie – along with the emperor, the largest penguin species in the world – are now struggling to survive as melting sea ice destroys nesting sites and reduces vital food sources, such as krill.

Colorado is certainly known for it’s parks, and this one I happened upon out of the blue one day….it really is a majestic site, with these odd rock formations just jetting straight up from the earth, as if reaching for the sky.
