  • Romance
    by Becca Cusworth

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Romance depicting heroic or marvelous deeds, pageantry, romantic exploits etc Eilean Donan castle bathing in the early afternoon light _As one of the most iconic images of Scotland, Eilean Donan is recognised all around the world. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some majestic scenery, it is little wonder that the castle is now one of the most important attractions in the Scottish highlands. Although first inhabited around the 6th century, the first fortified castle was built in the mid 13th century and stood guard over the lands of Kintail. Since then, at least four different versions of the castle have been built and re-built as the feudal history of Scotland unfolded through the centuries. Partially destroyed in a Jacobite uprising in 1719, Eilean Donan lay in ruins for the best part of 200 years until Lieutenant Colonel John MacRae-Gilstrap bought the island in 1911 and proceeded to restore the castle to its former glory. After 20 years of toil and labour the castle was re-opened in 1932_ / http://www.eileandonancastle.com/

  • Landscape of the Lord St. Malo outside of Estes Park, Colorado. One of thee most photographed Churches in all of North America, I was VERY excited and VERY anxious to get this shot when I headed up to Rocky Mountain National Park. I was hoping that the weather would clear because behind this, covered in the clouds, is Mt. Meeker and it is just a stunning view with the mountains! I have to admit though, I am really happy how this came out. And if anything, it is quite unique compared to how it is usually shot. I suppose that is a good thing when it comes to photographing something that is such an icon. Generally, people walk down by the pond and shoot from there, I stayed up top on the side of the road, thus giving a different perspective than most. Also, the weather. It was dramatic as all heck! You could smell the rain as it came in, dark, but with so much drama in the sky. I was pretty lucky to get a shot like this. Ya, I am happy with it! • Solitude
    by TerriRiver

    US$31.35–US$167.20

The bridge reminds me of an emotion of solitude, which is not to be confused with loneliness. The former leads to an internal peace and being one with nature and oneself while the latter was a feeling of being forced to be alone, deprived of freedom and choice. I used to call this photo “Peaceful Bridge” until a young patient of mine (at the time she was nine years old) explored the difference between solitude and loneliness. When the image was presented to him as an illustration, he exclaimed, “Oh, solitude is peace, inner peace!” And the true title of the piece was born. Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Nature Canada

    by Craig Scarr

This photo was taken just south of Fraser Island in Queensland. With a 30 second exposure at f10 this gave the picture a fairly surreal feel about it.

  • My Country
    by Globalphotos

    US$4.28–US$114.00

My Country The love of field and coppice, / Of green and shaded lanes. / Of ordered woods and gardens / Is running in your veins, / Strong love of grey-blue distance / Brown streams and soft dim skies / I know but cannot share it, / My love is otherwise. I love a sunburnt country, / A land of sweeping plains, / Of ragged mountain ranges, / Of droughts and flooding rains. / I love her far horizons, / I love her jewel-sea, / Her beauty and her terror - / The wide brown land for me! A stark white ring-barked forest / All tragic to the moon, / The sapphire-misted mountains, / The hot gold hush of noon. / Green tangle of the brushes, / Where lithe lianas coil, / And orchids deck the tree-tops / And ferns the warm dark soil. Core of my heart, my country! / Her pitiless blue sky, / When sick at heart, around us, / We see the cattle die- / But then the grey clouds gather, / And we can bless again / The drumming of an army, / The steady, soaking rain. Core of my heart, my country! / Land of the Rainbow Gold, / For flood and fire and famine, / She pays us back threefold- / Over the thirsty paddocks, / Watch, after many days, / The filmy veil of greenness / That thickens as we gaze. An opal-hearted country, / A wilful, lavish land- / All you who have not loved her, / You will not understand- / Though earth holds many splendours, / Wherever I may die, / I know to what brown country / My homing thoughts will fly.
