This old rustic fence running off down the hill with it’s slotted holes in the misty morning of a cold grey Macedon day looked good with the lone tree as a backdrop.
When the conditions are right where I live we experience the wonderful phenomena of sea fog. The first one I experienced was when I was “in between” cameras. I was devastated! I have been hoping ever since that we would get another one… I peered out the window today while I was on the phone and saw that today was the day! I had to make my apologies to my friend on the phone – a girl has to get her priorities right – and happily spent the next two hours snapping, with my young boys as my photography assistants. The title of this piece is inspired by one of my favourite scenes in Lord of the Rings. Gandalf the mighty wizard gives his life to ensure the freedom of his friends… and so my friend today gave to me the same gift of freedom as I hastily hung up the phone to explore my sea fog. 5000+ views
An IR shot…...surprise, surprise.. / / Without the wonders of an ir filter this was just an ordinary paddock…green grass, a lone tree and a flowing river.

I’ve been playing with this shot for way too long. I’ve done about 8 versions and can’t decide which one, if any, I like best. This is the one I’m posting…any feedback would be great – you know how it is when you overwork something – can’t see the good bits through all of the annoying bits. / / / Camera: FujiFilm FinePix S7000 / Location: Tumut in the Land of Oz / / ISO200 / f/8 / 4.0sec exposure / R72 filter / Tripod / / POSTSCRIPT / / After reading everyones comments, I’m changing my opinion of this pic now. I’ve looked at the other 7 versions and this one is definately the best, actually by a long way so I’m glad I persisted with it…I think I’m happy with it now….and besides my limited photoshopping skills have run out – I wouldn’t know what else to do with it anyway….lol

“Clouds on the Water, Fire Near the Sky” / Purchase a Mouse Pad of this image I happened onto this gorgeous sunrise over the White River at a time when the water was at its lowest. I was delighted to catch the calm surface for reflections, as the low rising sun was casting its first orange glow over the autumn colors.

An infrared photo I took a while ago… but I just found it again on my computer. The title is from the song playing at the moment on iTunes….I’m lost for inspiration – “One Crowded Hour” by Augie March from their album “Moo, You Bloody Choir” – well worth a listen if you haven’t heard it.

Captured this beautiful fall scene while on a motorcycle ride to Georgia, Nov. 2008. Didn’t seem fair to be separated from the beauty on the other side by that fence, so I just included it as well. Taken with Nikon D300 and Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8. / Light HDR processing and some Dodge & Burn applied.
Infrared and some textures.
The lifeguard post of Main Beach, on the Gold Coast. One of many posts that cover the Gold Coasts 60 kilometre beach systems. The Gold Coast stretches from the very south/eastern corner of Queensland, well into New South Wales, Australia. This shot taken on the same day, almost at the same time as Surfers Paradise which was facing South. This shot facing West, into the setting sun, with very dramatic clouds! Canon 50D, 55mm.
