This image of an old railway going off into the sunset was taken looking west towards the Oquirrh mountain range in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. I like the cold rails heading through the snow covered ground towards a warmer place just over the horizon. This railway sunset was made into a watercolor art piece via Photoshop CS2’s artistic filters.

This is a scene rendered in Bryce with elements from Poser. The idea was to break from the orthoginal world of straight lines and right angles to a freer description of the world where all its pieces float in interesting arrays under the control of (or given freedom FROM control) by our wonderful female form rising into heaven. I believe this is the essence of the artistic spirit, to take what is or what has been taught and treat it only as a baseline. Not to simply accept and defend, but to rearrange, invent, create, transmute, destroy, augment, reassociate – well, you know the drill. All against one of those really fake-looking early Brycian skies(sorry). Anyway, that was the general idea. I was waiting outside the doors to go to a photography competition award ceremony, and I saw this. I thought it was an interesting site, so I did what was to be expected… I took a photo :)

I noticed the strong contrast between the blue sky, the green grass & the red pillar box which dates from the reign of King George V (i.e. from 1910 until his death in 1936). It’s a simple composition which, I hope, works.
