When the conditions are right where I live we experience the wonderful phenomena of sea fog. The first one I experienced was when I was “in between” cameras. I was devastated! I have been hoping ever since that we would get another one… I peered out the window today while I was on the phone and saw that today was the day! I had to make my apologies to my friend on the phone – a girl has to get her priorities right – and happily spent the next two hours snapping, with my young boys as my photography assistants. The title of this piece is inspired by one of my favourite scenes in Lord of the Rings. Gandalf the mighty wizard gives his life to ensure the freedom of his friends… and so my friend today gave to me the same gift of freedom as I hastily hung up the phone to explore my sea fog.

2D Forever Gas masks scare me. It only takes a thought about their purpose. However, whilst researching for this picture it would appear a lot of people have a fetish for gas masks. I couldn’t say why, but I guess that’s why they’re called fetishes. Each to their own! With this, I wanted something so normal (or rather so retro) as a husband kissing his wife before leaving the home but put an odd spin on it. Gas masks were the first thing that came to mind – you certainly can’t kiss anyone whilst wearing them. As for the surrounding, well everything’s post-apocalyptic these days so let’s assume the world’s end is nigh here. Taking something so odd and having to deal with it like it’s the norm. I guess the idea came from playing Half-Life 2 for the first time. Those CP’s aren’t your friends. And maybe a bit of Call of Duty 4, good game, but sick. On a brighter note, you could say this shows love conquering all! Yes, I’ll leave it as that.

My contribution for the Agent Provocateur Challenge. / The year: 2258 / This design is a symbol of the post apocalyptic era. Purpose driven war has given way to war for the sake of war. The land’s have suffered irrevocable trauma and humankind is on the brink of extinction. Man’s only hope is seek solitude in the only region left unspoiled by the Great War, the depths of the Sea. Underwater colonization could act as savior to the Human race. My design is a play on the “Dove and the Olive Branch.” The dove holding the Olive branch symbolizes hope when all hope was lost, a peace in the midst of turmoil. My design is a Guppy (fish) holding a strand of Kelp. The fish holding a strand of kelp symbolizes the hope for mankind that waits for him beneath the waters, a new frontier untouched by war.

“Clouds on the Water, Fire Near the Sky” / Purchase a Mouse Pad of this image I happened onto this gorgeous sunrise over the White River at a time when the water was at its lowest. I was delighted to catch the calm surface for reflections, as the low rising sun was casting its first orange glow over the autumn colors.

Out for hours on a perfect day out with my new dslr it took ages to get far as I kept stopping to try things like this…. bliss! Another image from my Ladybird meeting place near Mt Burr, Limestone Coast, South Australia. Many of you who have visited before would have seen a range of images from this secret little place where these ladybirds congregated in their thousands. Recently I reported they had all been killed by poison spray laid by Local Government. I have been back and they are just starting to regenerate now with only small bunches in their tens surviving but they seem to be making a slow comeback. This image, shot with a Canon 400D – sigma 100 – 300 macro, is an old image I have been wanting to post for some time. Hopefully we will see them back in their glory like this in years to come.
