Mr Percy Possum sleeps. I think this would make a great photographic style for a children’s story book. Great for imaginations.

Australian Brushtail Possum at home in my Gladstone Bag!
Australian Brushtail Possum in my Gladstone Bag. He turned up a while ago and liked his new apartment. I occasionally give him a piece of fruit which he seems to appreciate. PS since I posted this there has been a little drama which had a kinda happy ending.
Checking me out !
Photograph.Possum Brushtail Female / 6mm / F/2.8 / 1/25 sec / iso-154 / Olympus re Journal / Hi peopls,re possum Well I feel very naughty [cheating ] -I should have uploaded this story first, got sort of hectic here! – I found her on the path just under that tree early this morning she had only just died and so Frank posed her in the tree for me. We have them hissing in the windows most nights, but usually only see the large ones, I sometimes shine a torch at them or one !? not to frighten them !not sure, how many there are there wasn’t a mark on her so not sure what happened I think she was too young to just die, maybe the python attacked? /
..usually nocturnal, this mother and baby possum were setting the cockatoos off screeching one afternoon in the gum trees…I love catching a glimpse of the local nocturnal wildlife (which i usually only hear go bump in the night!!) Brush-tailed Possum is donated to the Wildlife_Appeal_Group for the wildlife victims of the Victorian Bushfires. All of the proceeds will go to WRAP (Wildlife Rescue And Protection Incorporated) ========================================================= Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Brush-tailed possums are marsupials, and their young are usually born in May and June after a gestation period of 17 days. The newborn possum finds its way to the mother’s pouch and attaches itself to a teat. After feeding and growing for about five months in the pouch, the young possum spends another two months clinging to its mother’s back as she moves about. Usually only one young is born at a time, and males do not take part in looking after the young. By the time they are seven months old, the young possums are independent of their mothers. They are fully grown by about 10 months, and the females will usually start to breed for the first time when they reach 12 months of age. The brush-tailed possum is the most widely distributed possum in Australia. It can be found in forests and woodlands all along the east coast, and also lives in inland areas along tree-lined rivers and creeks. A nocturnal animal, it is active at night and usually spends the day sleeping. Canon PowerShot A650 IS / 12.1MP – 6x Optical Zoom – 4x Digital Zoom
Safely tucked away on the higher branches of a Sydney Red Gum, this little raider watches me with interest. I took this photo on one of his nightly visits and used it a basis for this pastel rendition.

Australian Christmas Pencil Drawing Card/Image. Ringtail Possum with a Christmas Bell on its tail under a flowering gum tree. Hanging from the gum tree is a Christmas Lantern. TOP TEN IN THE CUTEST OF THE CUTE XMAS CHALLENGE FEATURED IN ART & STORIES MADE FOR CHILDREN
Based on a photo emailed from a friend. Lou Lou lives in a wooden drey (nest) on a balcony three storys up, where she is treated to slices of apple and banana. There is a tree adjacent to the balcony, through which she “bounds with terrifying abandon from branch to branch like a spring loaded rocket”. ............................................... This photo was taken on 15.01.09 at Blacombe Creek Estuary in Mt Martha. This baby Possum was snuggled up to a guy’s shoulder he was injured and this passer by was taking him to an animal shelter. I was lucky to capture this cutie’s face over his shoulder as he walked by.
My first attempt at extracting a piece from an image and placing on another… the tree was on the mud flats at “jewfish point’ redrock..when the king tide was at its peak…the possum from a previous image…
FEATURED in The Adelaide Hills, May 2009 – thanks to the moderators for choosing little fatbabybum!!! / FEATURED in All soft and cuddlies, September 2009 – even mmore thanks!! / This baby brushtail possum is now so used to me that s/he simply rushes along the tree branch and takes the apple pieces straight from my hand. Mum is a little more reserved (and a little scary, frankly!), but she will also creep along and take apple from me. I was amazed when I took these pics, the lens was a mere foot or so away from this baby’s face, and the flash appeared to make absolutely no impression on her!! Canon EOS400D, f/6.3, 1/60, ISO-400 / No manipulation at all – straight from the camera / Taken by finding the possum with a flashlight, and pointing-and-shooting with the other hand / Balhannah, South Australia
These little babies had just about all of the flash photos they were going to put up with for the day. I took this photo and the other post of baby Opossums last year at a wildlife rehab convention in North Carolina . The hands that I tried to obscure in this photo belong to my good friend Kay Kempton Raade that I got to join RB not long ago.. Thanks for the hands, Kay ! / Kay and her husband Knut have just moved back to her home state of Montana from North Carolina where she retired from teaching. Now that they are finally getting settled in I hope she will be posting some of her wonderful drawings along with her great photos.
My granddaughter, Lilly, was wondering if she could take this rescued opossum baby back to California with her. I had to tube feed it and its siblings, so she left it with me in NC. It was released in the wild.
