Thank you. / I choose this charity firstly because I love what they do and secondly because my daughter nicknamed her little brother when he was born as “Mr Starlight” so it seemed apt that I pick the Starlight Foundation. I started this as a solo project then realised it could also be used to help mumpreneurs so offered some spots to some great online businesses. This calender consists of a series of ongoing portraits created through the process of stepping out of my own way and allowing collected imagery symbols mixed media and intuition to BECOME! Once upon a time…... I planned my art by doing a sketch or having an idea….at least a place to start. And once upon a time I realized there was more that needed expressing than my underused brain could imagine….and I have a GOOD imagination. This intuitive way of working was a necessary step in my own evolution as artist and being….to relinquish control….to learn to listen to my inner guide or higher self. I came to find during this exercise that ‘what I was asked to put on canvas’ seemed to make no sense at all …...just strange little pieces from nowhere…or so I thought yet as I was living my life I realized that it made no sense either. I concluded that this no sense or nonsense I was creating through my judgment actually reflects the innate sense we come from and all have,,,,THE BIG SENSE….....a sense beyond …....and so I trust this way of working more than I trust my way of working! LOL Enjoy IN JOY in whatever sense you can.

Right. So it’s calendar time again! / And so I started looking through all my stuff and thought, OK, let’s make solmething for drummers… or guitarists… or bass players!! And I still might actually do that…. / But in the meantime, I figured that as my Katz calendar of last year seemed to win a few hearts, why not just leave it for another year? So here it is, for the second time round… not because I’m lazy (OK, fingers admittedly tightly crossed behind my back)... but because I think it should still be available to anyone whos emotional relationship with cats is as weird … and as loving as mine. Even thought I’d include my original description for those who don’t yet know how sick I actually am… Thanks for looking!! / _____ Anyone who knows me will be aware of my feelings towards our cats. Though we’ve provided them throughout their lives with a warm and comfortable home and kept them well fed with their favorite foods and drinks (hey wait a minute… does beer affect cat behavior?), and given them the freedom to come and go as they please (except when we lock them out when it looks like they’re gonna drag something bad into the house), and make sure they get the very best possible medical attention when they’re ill (amazing how few vets know how to deal with arsenic poisoning)... I’ve always had the feeling they hold a deep hatred for me, to the extent that I’m scared to give them access to me while I sleep. Especially as feline homicide largely goes unpunished where I live. But having said that, none of the 6 cats we’ve owned have ever chosen to live with us. It’s me and my wife who’s subjected them to that. And in fact, in their brief time as kittens, two in particular have given me the pleasure of many a heart warming photographic moment. When I look back on those moments, I realize how much love I actually have for the little scumbags. So this 100% feline calendar, with the exception of the months of July and December is exclusively devoted to little black OJ (who alas left us at a very young age), and Scratch the arrogant Siamese (who is alas still very much at large), and is a tribute to their contribution to my life. All shots originally on film, negatives scanned to digital with treatment in Photoshop. Btw… anybody want a pedigree Siamese? All offers considered!!

I have been working on a pretty BIG project over the last few months. I wanted to create a calendar which captured everything (almost everything) that is close to my heart: ~ My friends / ~ Photography / ~ Make-up / ~ Portraiture / ~ Celebrating the beauty that is a woman! I present…. F.A.C.E.S. / Females Are a Celebration of Everything Sublime This is more than just a calendar… my goal is to use all profits made from this calendar sold on Redbubble.com for a project which will provide a beauty make-over and photo session for a women’s shelter here in Toronto. There are thousands of homeless, battered and forgotten women in the world who need their spirits lifted…this project wont get to them all, but maybe it will inspire you all to make someone’s day better and to appreciate all the women in your life. I’ll be gathering fellow make-up artists, hair stylists and photographers to help make this happen….your contribution will help purchase a toiletry bag filled with goodies for the women at the shelter. This project will take place next year…and…of course…photos will be posted =) I’ll keep you up-to-speed with any updates….which shelter, who’s involved, dates etc. Thanks for taking the time to read this and a huge word of gratitude for anyone who makes a purchase.
