  • I’m on vacation right now and Ferdinand is probably wondering where I am,each time I work I look for fresh fruits everywhere, his fav.peaches, pears and plums, sometimes I go downstairs at the cafeteria to beg for some….Everytimes he says «écoute la petite, what would you like me to buy for you ,tell me »and I say «nothing» ,he answers «They don’t have that in the stores»I t’s like a ritual …a few weeks ago ,her greatgrandaugther was hit by a drunk driver,20 years old,I though we where gonna loose him,Ferdinand was such in pain and sad,he didn’t want to eat or smile..Hopefully everybody went to talk to him very often ,he had more fruits… he told me last week that the girl was out of the coma and started to talk a little.Last month,I took his picture and told him that everybody said he was a handsome man.I explained to him that his portrait was all over the world…..«I didn’t even comb my hair » he said,it was funny.Mr Ferdinand is 95 years old ,he walks slowly and do everything by himself, never disturbing and always acting like a gentleman .A few women are after him but his wife died 6 months ago and he loved her so much ,I knew her ,a very funny lady. She was alzeimer.I hope he will be okay until I come back…Gigi Since I upload that pic,Ferdinand was told that he was gona die in a month or so due to his sick kidneys.Don’t ask me why the doctor told him I had never understood that part….He past away after 6 months of sufferring…thank you for taking the time

  • Everything on the walls behind the kid is work that I did either in grade school or high school. Yes, I still have EVERYTHING that I did back then. It’s taking over every nook and cranny in my house, much to the chagrin of my loving wife. What can I say, I’m sort of a pack rat. Do I really need the cartoons I scribbled on my math homework when I was eight? No. Am I going to keep it anyway? You better believe it.

  • Even at two years old, Lucy knows how to go for the kill. Of course, it doesn’t look like her little brother minds too much either. In a few years, we’re going to have to start keeping an eye on these two. At least we know they love each other.

  • My good friend Caroline commented that she liked the “icy” tones in this one. Since I read those words I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. I’ve spent all day thinking that I agree with her…..this image looks cold…. So my thoughts went to one of my favourite novels of all time, “The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe”, and the youngest of the Pevensie Children, Lucy, The first to discover the secret winter-bound land of Narnia. So, in honour of nagging thoughts & curious little girls, I’m re-titling this image. • Well as you can see from the images below, The Empty Studio has been all about inks…my inks had been put away for so long some of them had dried out, and had to be discarded, but I still have an assortment of acrylic inks, and have been using mostly sepia and black for this collection… Today I added a bit of colour to this latest painting of Hollyhocks…they seemed to need it…I’ve had the sketch forever in my files, and I don’t know where it originated, but at one time I did grow these regal flowers in my garden and maybe the idea came from that time of my life Acrylic Inks on Cotton Paper… Silently a flower blooms, / In silence it falls away; / Yet here now, at this moment, at this place, / The world of the flower, the whole of / the world is blooming. / This is the talk of the flower, the truth / of the blossom: / The glory of eternal life is fully shining here. / - Zenkei Shibayama..
