This Austin A70 is a permanent feature amongst the gum-trees on my father-in-law’s top paddock. You can tell how long it’s been sitting there by the branches growing in, around and over its body! This is a composite of a portrait I shot of my daughter dressed in a vintage gown that belonged to my Mother. I styled her hair and make-up to fit the era of the gown. I overlaid a paintable scrapbook paper that I hand painted in oils and used PSCS3 to layer the images and apply the text. Hope you enjoy it!

I’m back at work today and my stomach is doing all kinds of scary protest nerve dances. Luckily I have this little home here to handhold while I try and settle back into what bizarrely feels like first day of skipped a year ahead school. / ticketytock

I am not crazy about how much weight I have gained… and how out of shape I am from breaking my foot. This was one of the last places I explored in my state before I broke my foot and I explored it on my birthday, in a wheelchair while my foot was in a cast. This place was a training school for mentally retarded children. The history of this place is so rich and I have a particular connection to it since I found out there was a deaf resident here (I am a Sign Language Interpreting major) Many deaf people were placed in these schools and basically abandoned by their parents and many times they were NOT mentally retarded at all. People were (and still are…) so ignorant to learning or understanding sign language and deafness these people REALLY did slip through the cracks and were forced to live with people who were either insane or mentally retarded. I could have chosen a more flattering pose but my foot is still fractured so checking on each photo was not an option. I was also not doing it for beauty. I am not a model, I am not interested in being a model, I am strictly a photographer! It serves as a reminder of where I’ve been…..as well as those who resided at this school who did not have a voice. Taken with my Pentax K100D Super, Self timer but with my friend telling me if it “looks good” or not before I carefully made my way back to the camera!
