OMG the very talented RACHEL LEIGH has nominated JUST BOOTS for the Pay it Forward Group She said ” “I love this photo because I know how difficult it is to get good pet shots and the lighting is just superb in this photo. Boots is as cute as can be and she captured him beautifully!” To me this is the highest compliment, thanking you so very much Rachel :O)) Waiting patiently for his morning walk…... Boots our dearest Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, has the unfortunate name, as being black and tan he has golden lower legs. He was born during the rugby world cup when England actually won something and as his breeder was a rugby fan she called him Golden Boots, after Johny Wilkinson! Started photography May 2008 Sold laminated print RB 23/03/09 BILLYBOY gave the most wonderful compliment when choosing Just Boots. I’m actually kind of glad this is in the Paws & Claws group because now that I’ve been given the opportunity to choose a picture from the group to single out, it’s fitting that my favorite pet picture of all time is right here so I can tell the world just how deeply I love it… / There are so many ways this works for me. The depth of field and selective blur draws attention to the perfect focusing on and around that amazing face, and I like the way the crop being slightly off center works so perfectly with the drape of the ears and the shape of the body. / The lighting is perfect and so natural… no blown out highlights or loss of shadow detail… the quality and direction of the lighting bring out that amazing detail in the facial fur and allows for that subtle reflection on the contrasting smooth surface into which he seems to be slowly melting. Also, the color space of the background matches the subject so perfectly that it’s a pleasing image to the eye even without taking the artistic level of the content into consideration. But I think what REALLY gets to me about this amazing shot is the affect the shooting angle has on drawing me into this pooch’s character. We’re down at his level, as if on equal terms with his world, and I feel as if I’m staring straight into his soul through those deep and all-knowing eyes… the connection between me and Boots is personal through this stunning image. This is a massive work of art and I am honored to be able to exaplin why it’s so special to me. Thanking you so very much Billy, it is such a wonderful compliment. xx Taken with my Sony F717, 800 ISO equiv. Lighting courtesy of my daughter holding a torch as there wasn’t enough natural light! Changed partially to sepia, then bluring and darker tones added for mood…..... Would make a super card ideal for any occasion, Birthday, Thank You, etc…. © Copyright 2008 Squealia, All Rights Reserved /
I am sorry but you must all be bored with her by now, so please don’t feel obliged to comment! Aged 8. Taken on a chair with a black background sheet, in my sun room. NIKON D40, 55-200mm LENS
I am sorry it is the same main image, but this is with a textured background, then the image of my daughter, then another textured layer, then a white layer. masks applied and fiddled with on all layers above the background.
That is according to this little lady! Aged 8!
It’s a hard life being a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel! My hubby and I came home after shopping this morning. Boots was in his favourite position…. lying on the sofa. The sunlight was shining through the closed shutters and the dappled rays were shining on him. Nikon D40 18-55mm 1600 ISO / Processed in Photoshop
My daughter likes to be serious when I snap her now! Taken whilst out walking before Christmas on a fine winters morning. As is – one for the album.
LOL ~ “Mummy was being a pain and wanted to take some photos of me, all I wanted to do was play with my Nintendo DS Lite!” Having agreed to pose for me this weekend she really didn’t want to, well she did but for only about 3 shots, and as you know to try and get a good one you need more than 3 shots to choose from! Well this was about the best! Taken with my Sony DSC F717 on Sepia setting.
Reloaded as it wasn’t showing on activity lists! Having tried to get her to pose for me and failing on the whole, I gave up and she started playing with her NDS… well i grabbed two scarves she has, which were freebies from the local Wok Buffet Restaurant and managed to get them to stay on her head and snapped about 10 shots whilst she was playing, every odd shot I had to say DS down as it was getting higher and higher and was in the picture! Well this is the result and I actually quite like it! Natural light through the window. Aged 8 years. Nikon D40 18-55mm
Haha! My first real attempt at a self portrait! Nikon D40 A priority. Self timer and tripod!
I am sorry if I have bored you with “me” over the past 24hrs, but this I rather like! A little creation I have made in PSP! Face self-portrait ME FENCE by ARTIST
I was looking for a photo today and stumbled across this! I never found the one I was looking for though! Changed to b&w. To meet various group rules: Nikon D40, 18-55mm, natural light. Aged 8 years. Started Photography May 2008.
I had brushed Boots about ten minutes before I took this shot, but he likes to look scruffy, had shaken himself and gone and rolled around on the rug! Out he comes with scruffy hair again! He needs a hair cut soon as it is getting too hot for him, then he’ll look smarter! Nikon D40 18-55mm / started photography May 2008
My naughty little “campo” dog! She was in Hannah’s bad books yesterday, she opened up a Hannah Montana jigsaw she got for her birthday and Scruffy chewed up one of the pieces!! Oppps! So Hannah Montana now has a chewed bit of jeans! For group rules: / Started photography May 2008 / Nikon D40 18-55mm / I found Scruffy abandoned on the “campo”, pregnant, full of fleas, ticks and worms! Well 2 months on she rather likes the cushy domestic life she now has, and is generally very good!!!
Madam Scuffy, with a mouthful of my black muslin in her mouth! She just lay there, not chewing it, but just had some in her mouth! Perhaps she didn’t want you to see her wonky teeth! Nikon D40 18-55mm, natural light. / Started photography May 2008 / I found Scruffy abandoned on wild campo land 2 months ago, Pregnant and full of ticks, fleas and worms! She is now very much part of the family!!!
I just think Teddy a French Poodle has a surprised look on his face and could be saying…. Uh-oh, who’s sniffing my butt? / Uh-oh, I just sat on a wasp! / Uh-oh, I’m in trouble! LOL! Sony F717

Yes there are at least another 2 to upload from the other day! SORRY! Anyway, the small person had her hair cut today, and I didn’t want it so short and now she wishes she hadn’t asked for so short hair! Just as well it grows! Age 9, Nikon D40 55-200mm, Natural Light, Started photography May 2008

Today was the Torremendo, (Spain) Annual Fiesta, celebrating their Saints day, where 2 Oxen pull a cart carrrying a statue of Jesus around the town and horse riders and pedestrians proceed and follow. Last year I rode, but decided I would snap some photos this time. This elderly man had a wonderful character visage, so I plucked up the courage to snap a shot! He was just a follower. The day was blazing hot, so he must have been melting in his coat and hat. This is the first time I have managed to capture an older person to apply this effect to and I am quite pleased with the result! I have removed the background as it was full of people and was messy. / 2 hours worth of editing in PSP, including manually adding the Dragan effect! / Nikon D40 18-55mm / Started photography May 2008
I have made this image for the Inspiration Challenge where they wanted you to find an image that really, really inspired you, perhaps that image that really got you into photography, and they wanted you to do your own response to it. Recreate it? Do one that could be part of the series? You could do what you liked but it had to be your own response. Well I chose this image, a fab, fun self-portrait by JAKE EASLEY , which always sits on page one of the all time favs here on RB. The first time I saw this I just wondered how he got such detail. I just loved his manic look, the processing etc. So I tried to recreate it in my own way, as I could never recreate that fab image! Plus I only have a tiny car with a short dashboard and I am female! Still try as I did, I couldn’t seem to pull that manic face, which did surprise me a bit, as being rather barking mad myself, I thought I would find it easy! The bright sunshine didn’t help with me trying to keep my eyes wide open either! I live in my sunglasses normally, plus I have had a foul headache for 2 days! I then processed it in PSP, with a bit of psuedo hdr & manually added the dragan effect, changed to B&W. Nikon D40 18-55mm, remote control and a big lump of bluetack! So here is the real Joy Ride image click on the image to view.
I am such a plonker! I thought my internet had crashed, but I had managed to catch the wireless switch on my laptop and turned the internet off! So whilst I was twiddling my thumbs as I had been commenting on all your new work, I started fiddling in PSP! Well this is what I came up with! Age 9 Nikon D40 18-55mm taken in natural light.
Sarah Pett-Nobel had some wonderful PSP brushes, so she told me where to find them and I had a little play today culminating in me making this for Hannah (aged 9). This is actually the unfinished article as the finished one which is in small below, breaches allsorts of copyright! Anyway she is Harry Potter mad and watches films 1-5 continuously. We are hopefully going to see HP and the Half Blood Prince tomorrow, so she is excited! This image was originally taken in bright natural light, so I had to darken it somewhat by blending multiple layers then masking back in some of her face and features! The rays are added from a brush tool. Nikon D40 18-55mm
