  • This beach was near enough empty each time we went – only because you had to walk for about 20 -30 mins to get there, but it was so worth the walk, huge expanse of sand and sand dunes and if it’s this empty in August, when does it get busy??

  • Polly Joke is a local name for a remote beach on Cornwall’s north coast, it is my favorite beach for beach-combing after a high-tide and provides me with plenty of photographic and sculptural material. Here are a few more of my photos taken in Cornwall me ‘ansom.

  • Chapel Porth, Cornwall. Taken at dusk on day of cloud and mizzle.

  • Two January surfers catching their last Atlantic wave before the light fails.

  • Taken January 10th. The weather was extremely drab and gloomy all day. However, just as the light was beginning to fade I noticed a few different cloud formations moving in from the coast, and just got that funny feeling there might be some light on it’s way that could be worth playing with. So I jumped in the car and headed to Wheal Coates. Set up the tripod and waited. Everything remained very grey. Then, for 2 minutes max, just after the sun had set (not that you could see it when it was up!) everything went incredibly orange

  • Bolster & Chapel Porth is a large earthen bulwark believed to date from the Dark Ages. It originally ran from Chapel Porth to Trevaunance Cove. According to legend, Bolster was a giant who fell in love with a young maiden called Agnes. As proof of his love, Agnes demanded that the giant fill a small hole at the edge of the cliff with his blood. Being such a small hole the giant willingly did so. However, he was unaware that the hole was bottomless and opened into a sea cave. Bolster continued to fill the cave until he was so weak that he fell into the sea to his death; the blood-stained cave can be found at Chapel Porth.

  • www.flindtphotography.com Porth Nanven is probably one of Cornwall’s most enchanting but least accessible locations. Perhaps it’s because the National Trust, the owners of this precious and geologically unique piece of coastline, would prefer that the numbers of visitors were kept to a minimum. Whatever the reason, don’t be surprised if you find yourself embarking on a circuitous route around the back streets of St Just as you make your way down to this remarkable place.
