Post processing included Photoshop cloning of a distraction, then into Photomatix for hdr (single image, hand held, +/- 2) then back to Photoshop for a light Orton. Then into Corel Paint 11 for some work with the blender and oils brushes, then back to Ph!toshop for the glowing light bulbs with one of Obsidian Dawn’s brushes, then to I-photo for the edge blur. When i was a wee lass i would lay on my back on my Grandparents porch at dusk and wait for the bats to fly over… There were thousands of them and it went on forever. I loved the silhouettes and the colour of the sky behind them as the sun set. I stayed there until the last few bats flew across and they all disappeared. It was a really happy time for me as a child, just watching everything fly past. There was nothing to worry about, everything was beautiful and calm while i laid there. Sittin’ in the mornin’ sun / I’ll be sittin’ when the evenin’ come / Watching the ships roll in / And then I watch ‘em roll away again, yeah I’m sittin’ on the dock of the bay / Watching the tide roll away / Ooo, I’m just sittin’ on the dock of the bay / Wastin’ time So this is my other something different comp entry. I’ve never designed anything from a childhood memory, this is one of my few ‘cleaner’ shirts, and i feel like its a lot more feminine and delicate than everything else i usually do. Plus ive never done anything with bats on it – but i’ve found a sweet PD image that im going to kick around for a little while.

I was in the kitchen cooking dinner when my husband came in from the front yard. He said I needed to go look at the sky. As soon as I saw this, I immediately turned around and ran for my camera. Sepia Toned of a previous…Morning sun filters through the trees at John Olivers Cabin with a few dogwoods in the background…..The Oliver’s bought land in the Cove in 1826 and this cabin site remained in the family until the Park was established. The house is typical of many found on the eastern frontier in the mid-1850s, and reflects the skills and techniques brought into the mountains by descendants of British and European immigrants…..Split-rail fences require much more timber than other types of fences, and so are not common in areas where wood is scarce or expensive. However, they are very simple in their construction, and can be assembled with few tools even on hard or rocky ground. They also can be built without using any nails or other hardware; such hardware was often scarce in frontier locations.These fences are sometimes refered to as Worm Fence due to the back and forth placements…This cabin is located on the Cades Cove Loop Road, in the Great Smoky Mountain N.P.

This painting is of the view I saw walking through the portico of the convent building adjoining the San Felipe de Neri church. The cactus was not in bloom at the time, so I added those in for more color. This is located in Old Town, Albuquerque, New Mexico. All proceeds from this work are to be donated to the Philadelphia Mission to feed, clothe, and provide medicine and education to the starving children in Africa.
