Toward evening they came to a great forest, where the trees grew so big and close together that their branches met over the road of yellow brick. It was almost dark under the trees, for the branches shut out the daylight; but the travelers did not stop, and went on into the forest. “If this road goes in, it must come out,” said the Scarecrow, “and as the Emerald City is at the other end of the road, we must go wherever it leads us.” “Anyone would know that,” said Dorothy. - The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. / - Anais Nin If you are lucky enough to live in Paris… then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast. / - Ernest Hemmingway All I need in life is a tube of Chanel lipstick, a pair of red shoes and a cobblestone street in Paris. / - Madeline Bouvier part of my ongoing love affair with my vintage velour sofa.

I am very happy on April 25, 2009 this photograph was featured on the HOME PAGE of RedBubble. As Shelley Heath kindly explained to me, Anzac Day in Australia is a day for remembrance of those lost through war. Red poppies are used as a symbol for remembering the fallen soldiers. April 25 already was a special day to me: it’s the Legal Holiday of the Liberation of my country, Italy, as well as my grandma’s birthday. Thank you for making it even more beautiful. Here is the Screen Shot of the Home Page: Just a few info about this picture: - It was taken with a point & shoot camera; - Most of my pictures are almost SOOC, I don’t like editing them with Photoshop or other software. I may use some filters, but all things I could have done with a ‘real’ filter, if I had it. My equipment is made up of only a camera and a lens now, unfortunately. / To me using Photoshop is indeed a kind of art, but not something which has to do with ‘photography’. - I love those power lines. I wanted them to be in the picture. This is my personal idea of composition. Everything doesn’t have to be perfect, to be beautiful. I always think of my Pop when I see poppies. He was an awesome grandparent and loved to make us laugh. One of his tricks was to pretend to eat big fat snails straight out of the garden – horrifying and hilarious to a 5 year old!! He would have loved this garden that I visited in Bridgetown, so this is for Pop :))) (And he would have found a snail or two!) taken in a field somewhere that will always be a part of England, in other words can not remember where..lol but have a strong feeling is was taken in North Yorkshire, between Wells and Thornton Watlass. Or possibly North Lincolnshire lol blame the internal sat nav It is a classic reminder of no matter how well we try to stop nature, she will find a way back
We know better.
It’s Hallowe’en this weekend in the northern hemisphere, and Beltaine in the southern. It’s traditionally a time to embrace the darkness, and then release it. It’s harder than it seems, sometimes.
