Truth be told, and despite my exquisite vocabulary and pronunciation of all words English (ahem), I am a dirty farm boy with clay in my nails and both “yall” and “aint” mere wisps away from my tongue… ha! We have my father to thank for both the heritage as well as the denial of it, as once he managed to leave the farm he swore no one would ever peg him as a hick ever again. Regardless, when revisiting the roots (g’ma in the tobacco fields), his “damns” turn to “dangs” and his “reallys?” to “well I’d nevers…” / You can take the etc, etc, out of the etc, but you can’t take the etc, out of all that other stuff. BTW, remind me what a great name “Grandma In the Tobacco Fields” is for a piece of art so that I can use it as soon as an appropriate work is from my loins flung upon canvass… that would be appreciated, thanks. Whilst staying with our friends as we wait for our house to become available on May 1st I discovered an amazing collection of these jars in one of their cupboards and I thought about the global wars of love and hate based on this product. I decided on a style of Pop-Art as it reflects my feeling of when this product should have been mass marketed.

This was a special present to a very friendly local beach club. The family who own it made us feel welcome and most important of all, comfortable to walk, play and rest under their wing! I loved it and the small changes I made from the original ‘Devil’s Saddle’. (A few added sparkles to the waves here and there!) The colours also went with their decor. I know it’s in a good home! xXXx

After a successful career as a commercial illustrator, Warhol became famous worldwide for his work as a painter; an avant-garde filmmaker, a record producer, an author and a public figure known for his presence in wildly diverse social circles that included bohemian street people, distinguished intellectuals, Hollywood celebrities and wealthy aristocrats. A controversial figure during his lifetime (his work was often derided by critics as a hoax or “put-on”), Warhol has been the subject of numerous retrospective exhibitions, books and documentary films since his death in 1987.
