I was standing in the middle of the on coming wall of water, it might look small now but when it got to me – it was up to my thighs. / More photos from the shoot of Mona Vale Pool - Got up at 4 to get to the pool for these shots, travelling petrol: $10 / - A can of WD40 to water proof the camera: $4.95 / (to use this – Hahah…. you sprey it onto a piece of cloth the wipe you camera with it, avoiding the lens and viewfinder….not sprey directly onto the camera….so what ever to reply moisture is good. It also stop salt sprey clinging itself on the camera too.) / - Stand in front of an on coming wall of sea water (Being scare sh#tless): PRICELESS!

This image was taken before dawn down at North Narrabeen Rock Pool. This is one of the largest rock pools in Australia. This image was a 3 minute exposure which captures a lovely blurring of the clouds. The interesting colours of the water are due to overhead lighting on the pool. This is a very simple but peaceful image. For those that want to find out how I produced this, I described my processing in detail in one of my blog posts You can read it here

This morning was a gorgeous morning to be up and about…. 5AM and I was wondering the rocks of North Narrabeen in just a T-shirt. Not a cloud in the sky, not a puff of wind, hardly a swell in sight. Not the best conditions for seascape photography, but a lovely morning to be up and about enjoying the Spring weather. Did manage to take this photo of North Narrabeen Rock Pool. Love the old textured planks around the pool.

Time for the small fish, crustations, and seaweeds to relax and enjoy some peace before the incoming tide brings fresh cold water with it’s relentless surges….thanks for looking. / rgs, Rob.

It was a cold day and the tide was far out meaning that parts of the beach that are usually cut off by the tide were accessable and I could walk a mile or so along the beach from the car park to reach this spot.

These are the oldest baths in NSW. About 1820, a natural pool was enlarged by convicts or soldiers, on the orders of Major James Thomas Morisset, Commandant of the Newcastle settlement from 1819 to 1822. Its original size is estimated as 15 feet long, seven feet wide and six feet deep. Initially reserved for military use, these baths apparently served for a time as Morisset’s private bathing place and were for many years known as the Commandant’s Bath.

I’m temporally challenged so dawn shots are rare for me but a couple of times a year near to daylight saving change-overs the sun stops getting up at a silly hour and becomes rather more civilised. I was lucky enough to shoot this after a night of rain so the rock pool on top of the cliffs was full. Shot off Bundeena Cliffs, Royal National Park, Sydney. What a magical place this is Natural Bridge (also known as Natural Arch), in the World Heritage-listed, Springbrook National Park, Queensland, Australia. Over millions of years, the waters of the mountain fed Cave Creek has worn away at the basalt cave roof, to create this natural wonder. Home to a colony of glow-worms, only visible after sunset. The short hiking walk takes you through some beautiful rainforest, most of the time, you can hear the falling waters of these falls. A must see if you come to the area! Canon 50D, 14mm. Rota Island is a natural playground with around 3000 inhabitants and is known by many to be Micronesia’s best-kept secret / Rota (Chamoru: Luta) also known as the “peaceful island”, is the southernmost island of the United States Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and the second southernmost of the Marianas Archipelago. It lies approximately 40 miles north-northeast of the United States territory of Guam. Songsong village is the largest and most populated followed by Sinapalo village (Sinapalu). In 1521, the first European to see Rota, was the lookout on Magellan’s ship Victoria, Lope Navarro. However, Magellan’s Armada of three ships didn’t stop until they reached Guam, so the first European to arrive in Rota (in 1524), was Spanish navigator Juan Sebastian Elcano, who annexed it together with the rest of the Marianas Archipelago on behalf of the Crown of Spain.
