Like waiting for judgement say, there they stood, in all their glory….40s era Fords, Oldsmobile’s, Pontiac’s, Chevy’s….awaiting the rodders touch to be sculptured in lead, and reincarnated into a new life as a hotrod. Sadly, as much as I love this place, it is now forever gone. I did many shoots at Classical Gas in Eaton, Colorado….and now it is just a memory….it is forever closed as the owner has recently passed away. I was lucky enough to have been here as often as I could…preserving it forever with my camera. And while it is an older shot, it seems just like yesterday I was standing there taking this….time stands still…...much as it did for the classic 40s Detroit iron….... This is a shot of a hood ornament of a 40’s vintage Pontiac automobile. I was attending a show at the Gilmore Car Musuem located near Battle Creek, Michigan. I took this shot with a long lens so that I could compress depth and ensure that the background would be completely out of focus. I wanted the attention to be on the hood ornament itself with the background just being more abstract.

This classic Pontiac was parked near a Starbucks – I couldn’t resist taking a few shots when I came out with my latte!! / Update: / After much searching, I found the owner of this vehicle…who himself was covered in fabulous tattoos. / Turns out he borrowed a lace tablecloth from his girlfriend who works in a very well known hotel here, placed it on the car and spray painted it. How inventive!! and how effective!! / I gave him several copies of the shots I’d taken and he was beaming. Canon 400D FEATURED in Live, Love, Dream (01 16 09).
