I read something so beautiful tonight. Thus shall you think of this fleeting world: A star at dawn, a bubble in a stream, A flash of lightning in a summer cloud, A flickering lamp, a phantom, and a dream. A little pond near my home. The water was beginning to freeze, for me this scene shows the immobility we feel between two seasons.I have several shot of that pond,it’s a quiet place,I often go there just to be with myself and listen to the sound of nature.

I can still remember my very first camera that my parents had given to me when I was about 8 years old. I took that camera everywhere and snapped shots of anything and everything, however it wasn’t until much later in life that I was really bitten by the photography bug. I was planning a big move to the Canadian Rockies and thought now is the perfect time to buy my new camera gear for shooting wildlife. I bought all the equipment I needed that would put me up close with all the wildlife that the mountains had to offer. So off I went chasing Bears, Bighorn sheep, Moose, Elk and Wolves… pretty much any critter I could capture with my lens. It was a fascinating and thrilling experience. Then fate brought to me a girl and she would change my life forever… Newfoundland is where I now call home, with my beautiful wife and baby son. This province is a photographer’s paradise. The scenes change from day to day and the opportunities for capturing them are endless. With my camera in tow I now begin my journey through Newfoundland, photographing and capturing her raw and rugged beauty to share with the world. I hope you enjoy the photographs presented here. The rugged and treacherous coastlines give way only to the unforgiving North Atlantic Ocean. It is a coastline marked with lighthouses that act as ever watching sentinels to welcome weary travellers home. It is a land of beautiful & quaint coastal towns, villages and cities. Newfoundland is a land visited by frozen giants from the North that create a sense of awe when seen by human eyes as they float down what is known as “Iceberg alley”. It is a land visited by massive whales during the summer that attract multitudes to the shorelines. It is a land rich in history and folklore and it is a land inhabited by a people who will welcome you with open arms. It is a land you need to visit… Newfoundland… In Living Color, captures the raw and rugged beauty of a landscape still yet untouched and marred by man’s corrupt hand. It is a tribute to a true Eden and its people that dwell there. / / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / SOME OF MY FAVS / click on the image to link to that image / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /

Taken at Crown Hill Park in Lakewood, Colorado. This my usual dog-walking park and more recently my coyote-photography park. it’s a pretty unassuming little place, but when the light is just right it can be spectacular. The defensive Tower house of Smailholm, just over the Scottish border, near Kelso. The tower was built in the mid 1400’s at a time when lawlessness and violent bands of reivers, ravaged the lands both sides of the English-Scottish border. And a solitary white swan, resides below the Tower Even today, the landscape is lonely, and you can easily imagine the starkness of those dark days. Dreary dull, grey, original digital photograph. / Lots of photoshop layers and borrowed sunset from my bonny Northumberland, Budle Bay photo. Inversion and refining with digital painting….. it would have been easier to conventionally paint this!!
My favorite subject ..fog.. / A quiet and early foggy morning.I discovered that special place a while ago, near my place.I didn’t know it was that beautiful with fog. There was that little river at the end of a small lake. / St-Hippolyte,Quebec,Canada. / / / / /
Full view please :) Delighted to collaborate once again with my favourite poet girlinthestars. Amy and I really love inspiring one and other. She has an amazing collection of poems, please check them out. Here is Remembering How To Breathe In time, they say / But I think that it’s their time / They’re speaking of It’s fine, I reply / But that’s just so / They’ll let me be I’ve lied upon fevered bark / Flying the ribbon of our eternity / Watching the curve of us / Intertwine the trees / Coloring the breeze, baby blue / It kidnaps my lonely / And nestles me, secure with you As they all declare Don’t look back / Don’t look forward / Just stay still / To count your blessings / Don’t cry now / Don’t cry later / Wash it all away / Think not on your regret / But on who you’ve never met Sometimes the heart thinks it has moved on / But it’s wrong / Oh, it’s wrong / It’s just occupied with something else So if you find yourself alone / City lights, dying down / The memory of her, slinking under your door / You may rest, listening for nothing / And then hear a familiar something It is only me Reciting the riddle of your leaving / Breaking the fragments of you, smaller / As my unwillingness compromises to try And so remembering how to breathe… I sigh ..::Stock Photo Credit::.. / Model / River background / River foreground / Woods / Butterflies If you like this piece, please check out: / / /
©2007-2008 Aimee Stewart, Foxfires – please see my CC Terms of Use before considering using this image for any personal or commercial use http://foxfires.deviantart.com/journal/15905899/ / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- Artist’s Notes: I’ve had this picture in my mind for quite awhile. As a child, my treasured stuffed animal (as all children tend to have) was a little squirrel who went on every kind of adventure with me, and my favorite story was about a lil’ squirrel named “Miss Suzy” – written by Miriam Young, and illustrated by Arnold Lobel. I love the thought of the tiny leaf-boat capturing the attention of the denizens of the pond as it passes by en route to a wonderous place. January 10th, 2009 – WOW!! Thank you so much for the front page feature!!! I’m so delighted! If you like Columbus – you might enjoy some of my other little animal works!! / / /
A small English village, Hanley Swan in Worcestershire. It boasts a duckpond with a nesting platform. I was camping near there last summer and took a walk to this village. To my pleasant surprise I found this Heron, he was looking rather pleased with himself and in no mood to take flight …......... Copyright 2008 Richie Dean PhotoArtMaster and Adobe Photoshop

floating in my small home made lily pond this past fall. I darkened the tones of the whole image a notch or two here plus cropped-sharpened once…. Natures own elements provided the real beauty I find in it… Jewel tones in the water like Sapphires, Emeralds and Citrines come from the ponds surrounding tree line. “Floating on Clouds” was shot in Goulds Newfoundland Canada. This is The Dory in natural light. I was talking to a friend about shooting “The Dory” and “Floating on Clouds” and how I used a polarizer to bring out the clouds on the water (as seen here) and removed it and used a flash to shoot “The Dory”. I was wondering in hindsight what I would have come up with if I had used the polarizer and flash at the same time. I know I would have given up about up to two stops with the filter which would have meant a slower shutter speed and the boat was moving, ever so slightly, so it may not have worked out? But maybe next time, live and learn!
