Pen and colored ink on 50 lb. sketch paper. The pomegranate is a symbol of fertility and abundance, and I drew this in my prayer journal while waiting for medical tests, in high hopes of a good outcome. By the grace of God, all is well, and I should be drawing for a while more.
The pomegranate is native to the region from Iran to the Himalayas in northern India and has been cultivated and naturalized over the whole Mediterranean region and the Caucasus since ancient times. It is widely cultivated throughout Afghanistan, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, India, Pakistan, Syria, Turkey, the drier parts of southeast Asia, Peninsular Malaysia, the East Indies, and tropical Africa1. Introduced into Latin America and California by Spanish settlers in 1769, pomegranate is now cultivated in parts of California and Arizona for juice production.[2] Sources: Wikipedia
I’m nestled next to his pomegranate heart. I can see inside the pulsing life he carries, and I feed the heartbeat with a blue breath.

Oil on stretched canvas 1000×1000 mm / Original artwork available for sale. The pomegranate (Punica granatum) is a fruit-bearing shrub growing to between five and eight metres tall. The pomegranate is native to Iran and has been cultivated and naturalized over the whole Mediterranean region since ancient times. The fruit holds great antioxidant values. My memories of childhood in South Africa and Namibia are filled with these wonderful pips. / Karoo, South Africa
Love these little jewels! These seeds were from a just picked pomegranate and they tasted wonderful! / They should have been made into a juice for a cocktail mix but got eaten instead. / In a bar in Parga, Greece, Nikon D40x with 18-55mm lens, hand held.
Yellow-rumped Warblers’ basic plumage is quite dull compared to their breeding plumage and, as a result, are not one of my preferred subjects. But I thought that the brightness of the pomegranate more than makes up for any lost color in the bird. / YR Warblers are our only regularly occurring warbler species during the winter.
