I am not an expert by any means of the word but I vote so I believe have the right to speak a few words here. As much as they are criticized by we the public, we do depend on them and it is interesting to just note my own observations here. The President of the United States draws a $400,000 year salary, (yes and benefits). His or her life and that of their family is under constant scrutiny by the public and the press, (not to mention other countries). They and family are always in the shadow of wanton acts of violence against them by fanatical or mentally unstable individuals. Their hours are long and their journey is wrought with trials, obstacles and criticism. Most come out looking far older than when they went in and so I would like to and do believe that inside each is the seed of which Freedom was born and to the dream that each and every man and woman follows. We must remember that many government branches, Lobbyist organizations and individual people play key roles in decisions that are made. But fundamentally politicians are human, with mothers and father, wives and husbands, sons and daughters. When the day is done they lie their heads on pillows just the same as you or I. This poem is written not to condemn politicians but to make us all think before we pull that lever, remember we are the ones that vote them into office in the first place. So it is our duty to know the factual records of whom we cast our vote for. I am not endorsing or condemning anyone here, it is just a poem by a simple writer who believes deeply in the word FREEDOM. Interesting notes: US Presidents salary; $400,000 / President of the United States / From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Hollywood stars; / From:Hollywood.com Sounds Off: Hollywood’s A-List Vin Diesel was paid 10 Million daollars just for the movie XXX / Harrison ford-25 Million for the movie K19:The Widowmaker / HOLLYWOOD – Everyone knows who’s on the Hollywood A-List. Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Tom Hanks, Bruce Willis, Eddie Murphy, Tom Cruise and John Travolta come to mind. There are new ones, like Nicolas Cage, Julia Roberts and Will Smith. They all have one thing in common: they have or will earn $20 million or more to star in a movie. / From:Hollywood.com Sounds Off: Hollywood’s A-List / / From:channelone.com / Sports celebrities; / Hockey goaltender Rick DiPietro’s world is spinning smoothly now that he’s re-signed with the New York Islanders for a record 15-year, $67.5 million deal. Everything seems to be getting worse and worse, doesn’t it? The economy everywhere seems to be crashing. Here, in Puerto Rico, my home, things are getting from bad to worse since the current governor was elected. Thousands of people were thrown from their jobs in the name of bettering the economy. Since then the people have gone into an uproar. Many more have taken to the streets to protest… A citizen even threw an egg at the governor … of course, he missed. I don’t think it was his intention to hit him at all. He just wanted to be heard like the rest of us. There are no jobs available and this leads to many to sort to stealing and/or sinking deeper into their lament. The suicide deaths have all but tripled as well as the homicides. People are going crazy it seems. I fear for our children… We only seem to be teaching them hate and to give in to anger. Sometimes I think that people demand change but are not willing to sacrifice. Sometimes I think that people will never be able to move forward. But I certainly wish I am wrong.
