Policeman in the rain with the Christopher Street Day in Berlin Germany
An old fashioned cop chasing a running glazed and sprinkled Doughnut.
A policeman on a lone beat at night in Vienna Austria.
This Policeman was one of the many positioned around the Pyramids of Giza, Egypt. This image features in my calendar “Scenes From the Middle East”
The Tour Down Under – South Australia 24th January 2009 / The fifth stage of what is fast becoming the 2nd biggest cycling race in the world. At the finish, just so many people crowding around and near impossible to get a clear shot of the cyclists, my eye turned to people in the crowd and possible views between the heads of others in front. After a couple of shots, I think someone spotted the lens upon them. Canon 50D, 18-200mm Sigma OS lens f6.3 ; 1/500sec ; ISO 100 ; 200mm

The central object in this reminded me of a policeman’s badge. For the incredible work the police do in keeping peace and order in cities everywhere – the Badge of Honor. This is a Sterling2 fractal which I converted to B&W then added Photoshop gradient coloring.
Can’t swear he’s Apache, but he is certainly Indian and in the right place for Apache. His braid hangs well past his shoulder blades. Wouldn’t swear he’s a real policeman either as he’s dressed for Vigilante Days in Tombstone, AZ and participated in skits in the afternoon. But he’s great local color, and a change from the all white faces of the majority of reenactors. Taken with Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 in natural light Featured in Happy Haven Photography 8/19/09
A scene from the Watercress Line Thomas week. / The Fat Controller (more formally referred to as Sir Topham Hatt), is the head of the railway in The Railway Series of books written by the Rev. W. V. Awdry. In the first two books in the series (The Three Railway Engines and Thomas the Tank Engine) he is known as The Fat Director. In the third book (James the Red Engine) he becomes The Fat Controller, as the railway has been nationalised. His full name is revealed in the foreword to the book Henry the Green Engine. / Sir Topham Hatt! He was a talented engineer who was apprenticed with William Stanier at the Great Western Railway’s Swindon works, which gave him a great love of all things Great Western. He went on to assist A. W. Dry in the construction of the Tidmouth, Knapford and Elsbridge Light Railway, which became Thomas’ branch line, and designed the locomotives that ran upon it. When the standard gauge railways of the Island were merged into the North Western Railway in 1914, Topham Hatt was called upon for his engineering skill. He constructed a bridge to link Sodor with the Mainland, as well as a number of branch lines and improvements to locomotive facilities. He was immediately made a Director of the railway. Topham married Jane Brown and fathered a son (Charles Topham Hatt) and a daughter (Barbara Jane Hatt). Jane was sister to Sir Handel Brown, Liberal MP for Sodor East and owner of the Skarloey Railway, making all successive descendants of the two railway families cousins. Charles wed Amanda Croarie, daughter of the owner of the Ffarquhar Quarry Company, and Barbara married Henry Regaby, the Viscount Harwick. In light of this, Topham’s family unit can be seen as an alliance of several of the most prominent families in Sodor. When the North Western Railway was nationalised and became part of British Railways in 1948, Topham Hatt was made Controller of the railway. 1948 also saw him made a baronet for his services to the railways of Sodor.
The Thomas week at the Watercress Line Trevor the Traction Engine is a fictional anthropomorphic character from The Railway Series children’s books by the Rev. W. Awdry, and the spin-off TV Series Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. Trevor is an agricultural engine – a traction engine designed for general farm work – and is one of only two steam-powered road vehicles that appear in the books (the other being George the Steamroller). Trevor loves to work in the orchard and give rides to children. He is also used to saw logs and (in the TV series) once helped out at the harbour on Thomas’ branch line. He is very versatile and can work almost anywhere. He has made friends with BoCo and Edward, but is very quiet and shy. He loves the railway and has no prejudice against any of the engines. He now lives at the vicarage orchard at Wellsworth on Edward’s Branch Line.
The Thomas Week at the Watercress line Donald and Douglas were built by John F. McIntosh at St. Rollox Works in 1899 and worked on the Caledonian Railway in Scotland, a large network that extended along that country’s east coast, as well as the central and south-western regions. Despite being limited to Caledonian metals, they appeared to have a familiarity with other railways, as they were familiar with the locomotives and livery of the Highland Railway. Giving long and stalwart service, Donald and Douglas eventually became 57646 and 57647 on the Scottish Region of British Railways. In 1959 Sir Topham Hatt needed a freight engine, and by his request BR transferred 57646 (Donald) to Sodor. To Hatt’s surprise though, two engines arrived. Donald’s twin Douglas (57647) could not stand to be separated from his brother, and was smart enough to realise he would eventually be scrapped if he stayed in Scotland. Neither engine could be told apart: both claimed to have forgotten their numbers, and indeed their numberplates had “slyly slipped off” in the journey from Scotland, forcing Hatt to keep both until he could determine which engine was freeloading on his hospitality. It was later revealed that this piece of skullduggery had been planned not only by the two engines, but also by their drivers and firemen, who were all related.

Paris, France policeman and young girl. What I really like about this photograph is both people seem so relaxed. I know from exprience you don’t find that too often in other countries around the world.
Wouldn’t it be lovely…... Enjoy! .
