I will keep you posted on the out come of all of this and keep using Rb and my photography for my therapy because it is helping so much to not think about it. Hugs to you all and Take care. / Dairygirl

Further to the recent journals posted on RB about taking photos in public places, members, especially in the UK, may like to watch this…. its only a few minutes long and well worth watching… CurrentTV If nothing else, the Police Community Support Officer gave me a laugh with his total incompetence!! Just goes to show how this country is “developing”... we will have meters strapped to our backs eventually to measure (and tax) how much air we are breathing!!

This is very distressing and makes me so angry! The law has to be changed – something has to be done to stop this from happening! / Below is an article form the Horse and Hound that i wanted to share with you. A massive rescue operation is underway in Buckinghamshire today, to remove 84 horses, ponies and donkeys from a location where 32 equines have already died. The rescue, from an address in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, is being carried out by the RSPCA, Thames Valley police, the International League for the Protection of Horses (ILPH), the Horse Trust, Blue Cross and Redwings Horse Sanctuary. The equines were discovered by the RSPCA on Friday 9 January. While 31 animals were found dead in a field, three were destroyed as they were considered too ill to be moved or rehabilitated. They are described as being emaciated, deprived of food and water, with overgrown feet and possibly suffering from infectious diseases. Fourteen horses were removed over the weekend. The ten young colts and geldings, one blind mare, four donkeys and a foal were taken to the Horse Trust’s Home of Rest for Horses for emergency treatment at the weekend. According to the Trust, they were found tied up in small pens and standing in their own excrement. All were grossly emaciated and had been deprived of food and water for some time. At the moment the animals are too scared to be treated by a farrier. “They are already responding to treatment and we are seeing progress on a daily basis,” said Horse Trust chief executive and vet Paul Jepson. “We have taken nasal swabs from all the animals to exclude the possibility of infectious diseases.” Today, 30 staff from the police and charities have been working to remove the remaining 84 horses. They will be cared for by Redwings, the Horse Trust, the ILPH and the others by the RSPCA. The RSPCA has launched a full investigation, and a man has been arrested on separate police charges.

The other day at the police station - Kuwait stories

/ / / Two weeks back, we just came home from shopping hubby did something he has never done before (at least that’s what he says). / He tried to park in backwards with the new rental car we just had for one week at our Complex. / You know, they have a lot of huge cars in Kuwait but parking spaces are always small. And these are cornered by metal poles that hold the sunroof. / Now, hubby knew that the sensors in this car were off, they didn’t work right (we actually figured later that they give you a warning sound when nothing’s there but no sound when there is something). / So, these beautiful new cars are all built so you don’t see nothing through the gear window when driving backwards. Another reason I would not want to drive it. / Long story short, hubby hit the pole with his gear end. Nothing bad and covered by the insurance anyway. / All he has to do is file a report with the police. / Nothing you wanna do on your day off, but t has to be done. You don’t really want to do that in a garage illegally by people that probably get busted exactly on the day YOU have your car in there. So he did it the right way. He went to make this story short as well, to three police stations that afternoon, trying to find the right one. / The right one after being in Fahaheel and Abu Halifa (I think) was the one in Ahmadi (or one of the ones in Ahmadi, let’s put it that way), but….. / But the guy that did that paperwork wasn’t there that day and anyway, he had to bring a translator to tell him what the paperwork is all about. / Uh….ok…..now what? Through Miss Z. I know Soud, a Kuwaiti guy, nice and always helpful. I texted him a message and he texted back that he either tries to find someone for us or helps us himself. Have I mentioned that he’s a nice guy? / So the following Monday the three of us headed towards Ahmadi and after being at the wrong police station first, we finally found the right one. / Hubby asked me that morning if I wasn’t going to take my camera, but failed to mention, why I should. / There’s a huge parking lot besides that station with many, many crashed cars. Well, all I got was a shot with my Cellphone, but better than nothing. / It was better anyway, that I didn’t have my camera with me, I had itchy fingers already and am glad I didn’t get busted for what I DID shoot ;). So, we had a little Odyssee through at least 4 offices, not in vain, we collected a stamp and a signature in every office, everything was registered in a HUGE blue book, no computers in sight anywhere. Back to the office where the guy was residing that did the check of the car and the report we were told that Soud needs to go and make a copy of his ID and bring it back here. Off we went to a nearby junk store with a movie theater, we would have been so lost without Soud :). Back to the station were already a bunch of people waiting and off we went to the parking lot were each car got inspected and checked. / Back inside we were all settled to wait. / Urgent needs made me go and search a toilet, finding some jail cells with people in it (women and men, mainly Indian / Pakistani it seemed) and some nasty nasty toilets. (I spare you the toilet with the poop on the ground…) I guess the jail was just like an interim stop for those people until the decision’s made what to do with them. It was pretty weird and that was the moment I was glad NOT to have my camera or I would have probably ended up in there with them ;). Well, while we waited, some guys came with a food delivery and the doors of the office closed for the next half hour. Which meant breakfast break, for the guys in there not us. But it went pretty fast, after those doors opened up again. We got our papers and could go to the last and final office, where we had to sit down in a room that just made me grin, well, made me hide a big grin. / It was a dusty room with two big old wooden desks, old green filthy carpet with a cigarette butt in one corner and a bunch of folders in two different colors stacked on top of each other in no apparent order. Good luck finding anything when you need to. One guy was sitting at one of the desks, apparently doing nothing but drinking his tea and watching the world. The second guy came a bit later, pretty young and a bit nervous it seemed, but he did a good job. No Computer here neither. He was working out of his briefcase that was on the table in front of him. / Now the signature part came. Soud explained Floyd that it would take 8 or 9 months or longer for the file to appear online and then he would have to pay the fine of around 5 Dollars. Huh? / Yeah, the whole thing goes to court and then one day you can check online if you have fines and when it pops up you go and pay it. / Uhm, sure….. / Where does one get the address? / Oh, it’s written at the back of every police car. / Ah, how very helpful ;) Well, this bump was sure worth it’s 5 bucks and the hassle. I would have never seen all this without it :P Ah, and on our way back there was a big jam at a traffic light for a few minutes. / When the traffic finally started rolling again we saw the most funny sight ever: / an Indian trash guy regulating the traffic. / Hilarious! / But it worked :)! Now, if you want to see the (not so beautiful) pictures going with this entry, I’m afraid you have to visit my blog, cause I can’t get the html codes to work here…. :( / http://rainmountain.wordpress.com/2007/11/19/the-other-day-at-the-police-station/

so down at the waterfront the cops want to stop violence and kevin rudd is all ‘binge drinking is an epidemic’ blah blah blah. It’s the Australian way to get fucked up on the weekend and without that release there would be a lot more massacres and shootings and no one wants that…except maybe those involved in the funeral business…so I got a $120 fine for “an open container of liquor” outside a mildly popular nite club. FUCK FUCK FUCK THA POLICE. Go bust some serious crime you time wasters and stealers of air. anyway had to vent that frustration. This whole policy to curb binge drinking is a waste of time. Most people dont get drunk to fight or be a public nuisance…I can be a nuisance without alcohol…but maybe people are drinking to temporarily remove themselves and their brain cells from the world they mostly enjoy yet can not stand at times. so much political correctness, repugnant overbearing advertising and a million other issues that we all carry on our shoulders as if the average joe can really do a fucking thing about petrol prices and rising sea levels. Dont burden us with that, start with the big polluters and big players then we as people will wash our cars less, use paper bags, use toilet water to brush our teeth yada yada yada.

Well its been a few weeks and still the locals are out of control, last Thursday they finaly came and took my lovely little car off to have it repaired and left me with a courtasy car, and you guest it the little SOBs came back and attacked it all four tires this time and lump of concreet down both sides can you belive these people. So that has now gone away to be repaired as well and i’m having to use the bus again, not the easyist means of transport with a disability. / In responce we’ve been put in touch with the hate crimes unit of the police who are currently chaseing up all the agency and groups who job it is to deal with issues like this. So if all goes acording to plan they will be putting a hard standing where the front garden now is and putting up CCTV and new sercurity lighting all before my car returns on the 12th. Me being sceptical as always will belive it when i see it. So be warned they may yet be a part 3.

I was sitting here answering a post when I heard what sounded like a gunshot. We live in a very rural area, so it’s not that unusual, except it’s 12-freaking-30 (at night!) Then I hear a series of single shots and what hears like intermittent rapid-fire shots. I’ve never heard a semi-automatic or ‘machine gun’ live, so I have not idea if it’s that or firewords or a bloody gang war out there. I turned off the light and dialed 911. Was put on hold for several minutes! Finally the operator comes on and says she’ll report it to the State Police and do I want them to just check the area or come to the house?! lord. I asked her for someone to check the area, but that was about a half hour ago and I’ve seen no headlight go by. When you live in the country you know when a car drives by because it’s blacker than a witches cat out there! Nomally, I feel so safe out here – I’m very comfortable with the ‘hunters’ as they’re usually very polite and respectful folks. Now I’m literally shaking! Maybe I watch too many crime shows on tv?

Life - The Director's Cut

I’m never really here, only briefly through moments of short-lived clarity. I see and appreciate the good things but as if they are only copies of the Devine originals as everything lacks the vibrant buzz it used to have. Something else has taken over, an inner noise that is neither sensational nor inspiring. It is as if I have a disgruntled and dissatisfied entity living within me. My perception seems tainted yet heightened to the point where other people’s negative moods spill on to me and effect me as if they were my own. I sense tense vibes like a tracker senses presence from foot tracks left in the dirt. An inner frustration persists at my conscious, robbing me of any ability to settle and be still and relax. Fear of wasting the day, wasting the night, wasting my life encourages me to drive, walk, run from one side of the city to another looking to quench an everlasting thirst for any raw happy experience. I lie on the beach and I enjoy it but I think I will look back more fondly on the memory of the experience of being here rather than this very moment, lying in the warm sun with sand at my toes, thinking incessant and irrelevant things. It is as if the mind is being used at a hundred-percent capacity when it retrieves an old memory so you only experience the memory. For a short moment as the mental movie is playing there is no more mind space to judge, criticise or comment on the memory being played. It is because of this I feel my memories possess more stillness, more peace, more clarity than the actual moment itself. They are a much less complex representation of a moment without all the unnecessary noise and judgement that stalks me during the moment itself. Now it has become as if I am wandering looking for experiences to add to my memory bank to be edited and retrieved later without the present associated mental noise, as if my memories are digitally remastered versions of an old show real. Like a tourist who views his holiday through the viewfinder of his camcorder I too am viewing my present life in retrospect but as it happens. Yet sometimes my memory becomes the director’s cut as it hijacks my experiences and puts a negative spin on them, choosing and editing particular snippets to make a moment totally different to the actual event when I relive it in my head. This director knows his target audience well and plays on my fears, paranoia and insecurity as he selects particular takes on things to play on my emotion. I sit in the cafe, trying to be still and calm, sitting in the sun and enjoying the view. But I want to leave… Where to? I don’t know, but I force myself to sit here longer, I force the experience for fear of regret? Maybe but perhaps to finish the mental movies of ‘me enjoying the sun and a coffee’ or ‘me enjoying the beach on a summer’s day’. What does this mean? I am the star of these mental films yet prefer to watch them rather than enjoy acting out the scene as it happens. They say people who suffer from depression should force themselves to do things they used to enjoy and eventually the enjoyment will come back. I ask when is this moment? When will I stop acting out a fun life I don’t always feel inside? When will I be able to put down the camcorder and enjoy the moment whether it’s captured on tape or not? / I am still waiting, waiting to start living when… Why not today, why not now? Stress and anxiety buzz around my head as not only am I inundated by mental movies of actual events but those of fictitious possible future situations, worst case scenarios if you like. That is what anxiety really is, fear of a possible future situation or predicament. The anxiety however is caused by the mental movie in your head that is poorly written, directed and acted but to you it is a real possible future situation. / Anxiety is very rarely in the present. When it is encountered in the present moment and not that of fictitious mental movies, your body takes over through fight or flight and you just deal with it. You don’t think, ponder, wonder nor do you rehearse scripts in your head of things you might want to say to people, or re run certain situations from every different angle until you’re exhausted, you just do what is needed. This is why people who suffer great tragedy often seem calm in stressful situations and know what to do. I experienced this myself when working for Melbourne’s triple zero police emergency centre. I would get some calls in which people would be hysterical and screaming. However when the police arrived on scene they would find that in fact the situation was highly exaggerated by the person who called it in and at best vaguely resembled the original scenario stated by the hysterical caller at the time. It was the callers who were calm, placid and logical. They would call to report a murder with such absolute matter of fact calmness and rationale that at first I would think it was a prank caller. However these are the ones where the police would arrive on scene to discover a bloody and violent crime. I began to understand this and would shudder as I spoke to these calm, rational and matter of fact callers as they reported to me they had killed their father, mother, lover or friend. So why is anxiety such a useless and modern day disease? We are so saturated by the media who love embellishing the truth, putting images of war and tragedy on a dramatic soundtrack with a catchy heading that we have begun to do the same to our own lives. We envisage our dramatic life being played out. Something dramatic will happen and afterwards we will drive home rehearsing in our own heads how we will tell the story to others. We get a warped sort of excitement about break the news story ‘what just happened to me’. This is depression, lack of interest, lack of energy, lack of being able to connect with positive vibes and situations. A bitter, twisted and resentful director sits in your head calling the shots putting a negative spin on everything to increase the drama. Just don’t get addicted to it. Conflict is, after all, the centre of drama and the source of most entertainment we see every day. Is this creating a culture where we are addicted to drama to the point we act it out, even fictitiously, in our own head? Do we view life as not entertaining if there’s no drama? I think it gets to a point where we actually identify with drama and connect with it on a deep unconscious level. We enjoy it’s entertainment and the spectrum of emotion it evokes, we enjoy the catharsis we go through at the end of it and it all becomes ‘normal’ when in actual fact it’s not, well it never used to be, but maybe now it is. Maybe with depression being one of the most commonly diagnosed illnesses, this is in fact the new world that we live in, hanging in suspense everyday waiting for the next episode as we play the ‘next week in my life’ teasers in our head.
