I absolutely love this little spot, and I’m sure this will be the first of many visits to this area. / Settings Canon 40D, 17-85mm IS. After arriving at the beach after work I started walking to the point but couldn’t resist taking a snap of this bucket that just happened to be sitting on the shore. There wasn’t even any people around so I wondered how it had got there… Processed in Adobe Lightroom 2 only, experimented with the new adjustment brushes which are coooool! Used Cokin ND4 grad and circular polarising filters, taken with a Canon 400D Click here for my other seascapes Featured in the Selective Colouring Group in January 2009 Featured in the Canon DSLR Group in January 2009 Featured in the All About Water group in January 2009
......Seriously looking forward to hot summer days like this….
Taken at Rhyll early in the morning when the tide was way out. On the way back from Cowes to Woolamai I thought I might stop by Rhyll as I had never been there before even after all the years we had a house there. I spotted this boat tied up in the mud and couldn’t resist a shot. My shoes sank into the mud real deep and had to give the tripod a good clean. Taken with my Canon 40D with polarising and graduated filters. Image taken at Honolulu, Hawaii. 2 images stitched together in Photoshop to create a Panorama. Canon 400d + Tamron 17-55mm + Polariser Thank you all very much for looking.
Trying out an ND 4 plus a CIR polariser in the middle of the day to see what I could get with wave flowing motion. Beachport South Australia, back beach. Only time I could get down there was the middle of the day so will need to go back early or late in the day to try and get one of these right. Canon 400D 18-55, Tripod with ND 4 and CIR Polarising filters. Processed in Photoshop.
I’m not sure about this one so I’d like your feedback, please. / / These steps are located in Darling Harbour, Sydney. They are one of the many water features in the area. / / It was really hard to get a good shot of them…this was the best one that I could come up with. It was a really bright and hot day so I used a polarising filter, an ND4 filter and an ND8 filter to try and get a longer exposure. / / Camera: FujiFilm FinePix S7000 / ISO200 / f/8 / 1/5 sec exposure / On my hands and knees getting strange looks from lots of tourists who were just prepared to stand over them and snap away..lol / / / /
Taken on the same morning as Portsea Dawn about half an hour lately as the sun popped over the horizon. / Settings Canon 40D, 17-85mm IS. A drainage pipe leeking at sunset on the Sandringham foreshore. This area is being renourished by Bayside City Council to help stabilise the foreshore cliffs which are being eroded by wave action and stormwater emanating from the car park above. As soon as I took this photo the guys on the constuction equipment came over and started working on it maybe because of the low tide. Taken with my Canon 40D and 10-22mm wide angle lens with Polarising, Grad and ND4 Cokin Filters. Didn’t really have to do anything to the photo apart from remove some spots, I think it’s time for a sensor clean! Early evening shot at the Port Fairy outflow pipe, Port fairy Victoria. The outflow goes beyond rock outcrops on Griffin Island, out through the cement structures that reach out into the ocean. Long exposure image taken with the Canon 400D, 18 -55 lens, CIR Polarising filter topped with an ND4.
A three shot HDR on a stormy day of the Lighthouse on the beachfront at Kingston, Limestone Coast, South Australia. Canon 400D CIR Polarising filter – HDR converted in Photomatix.

Went down to Ricketts Point at sunset and was given a pretty good show shortly after the sun went over the horizon, how can that happen the sun doesn’t move? It got pretty windy and my remote decided to stop working but it was worth the 10 second wait for the self timer :) Taken with a Canon 400D and polariser as well as an ND4 grad filter, worked on in Adobe Lightroom 2. A rock alone out by itself on a fairly stormy evening in Melbourne. Taken just near the end of the pier at St Kilda in a window of stormy weather. Elwood can be seen sticking its nose out on the top left of the horizon… These rocks were damn slippery too, stupid me wore my skate shoes as well which didn’t exactly help! / Settings Canon 40D, 17-85mm IS. I saw this beat up old car on my trip to Lake Mungo. Quite an arid area. Especially now, as parts of south eastern Australia are now in drought. At the time in January, there had been so little rain that the normal grass cover had died and revealed the red earth underneath. It’s a very bumpy journey, and almost undrivable in the wet due to the clay soils. Nikon F90x / Fuji Velvia 100 Imacon Flextight 949 scan / (AVAILABLE IN LARGE SIZE CANVAS, PRINTS, ETC )
glutaric acid crystals photographed by transmitted cross-polarised light. Shot on Fuji Velvia 100, 6×7 format, Horseman 985, Nikon lens. Subject is approx 20mm across.
Taken at Ricketts Point in Victoria shortly before the sun went down. It seems this seascape thing is developing into quite a passion. Canon 400D, Adobe Lightroom 2 processed. Grad and polariser filters used :) Inspired by a Presets song… Over and outside / And under / Over a new sky / I wonder I’m on my way getting pulled to the light / Baby don’t know baby don’t see you / Baby wont fear tonight / Clearing my eyes ‘cause it’s so hard to see / If a girl were to come up way with me And it’s alright it wont be long / You feeling something / So wont you come outside with me? / And it’s alright sing like a song / And now you’re flying / So wont you come and fly with me? Over and outside / And under / Over a new sky / I wonder We spread our fins / and we take to the seas / Looking for, wishing for / Somewhere new to breed / Hands in the air going out of their minds / In control but they wont take you alive And it’s alright it wont be long / You feeling something / So wont you come outside with me? / And it’s alright sing like a song / And now you’re flying / So wont you come and fly with me? Taken just near Grossard Point at Ventnor, Phillip Island, Australia. My extended family use to have a house just minutes from here and we used to always walk along this part of the rocks. I always loved the red rocks in this area and wasn’t at all disappointed when I came back to get a couple of photos of them. One of the photos in my Phillip Island series, please click here to see the rest of my images in the series
Taken in Bristol.
As I was waiting for the sun to set I couldn’t resist but take some shots of the reflections in the large rock pools near the point. The sunset ended up being quite average on this occasion so these shots are all I really came home with. The white clutter under the beacon is a large flock of seagulls. Taken with a Canon 400D with ND4 grad and circular polarising filters. Exposure was 8 seconds @ f22. Click here for my other seascapes
